Article 3. Founding Principles
(1) The Constitution of the Federal Republic of Somalia is based on the foundations of the Holy Quran and the Sunna of our prophet Mohamed (PBUH) and protects the higher objectives of Shari’ah and social justice.
(2) The Federal Republic of Somalia is a Muslim country which is a member of the African and Arab Nations.
(3) The Federal Republic of Somalia is founded upon the fundamental principles of power sharing in a federal system.
(4) The Constitution of the Federal Republic of Somalia promotes human rights, the rule of law, general standards of international law, justice, participatory consultative and inclusive government, the separation of powers between the legislature, executive and an independent judiciary, in order to ensure accountability, efficiency and responsiveness to
(5) Women must be included in all national institutions, in an effective way, in particular all elected and appointed positions across the three branches of government and in national independent commissions.

* A party that opens its doors to all citizens with no discrimination firmly embracing the bonds with the all Somali people.

* A party that puts faith in religious values and knows for certain that religion can play an important role in progress.

* A party that does its utmost to take certain steps on the way of democracy pinning its faith on political plurality, professional syndicates and civil society institutions. This is a party that is easy in its mind about the importance participation particularly on the part of women and youth in an atmosphere where human rights, public freedoms and transparency are respected and bolstered.

* A party that tries its best to achieve economic development and raise the living standards of citizens in a framework of social justice.

* A party that believes in individual initiatives in economic activities in a framework where the state provides the basic services for citizens to strike a balance between individuals' interests and the interests of society.

* A party that believes in the importance of cultural change and boosting the role of all Somali youth, women and intellectuals in progress.

* A party which believes that national interests are the launch pad of foreign policies.
