Gogrial East NIDs compaign updates:
13/10/2026

Today,Gogrial East County Health Department together with Implementing Partner GOAL, National Supervisor, State Supervisor, Payam Administrators, Chiefs, subchiefs and the surrounding population carried out Launching NIDs compaign for nOPV/bOPV for polio at Luonyaker.

The compaign kicked off across Gogrial East County as a whole.

the Compaign target children 0_5 years of age only.

In the Launching, many concerns were raised including some of the parents dodging the vaccination.

The conclusion is that, all children 0_5 years must be vaccinated across Gogrial East County with no exceptions, with no excuse as well.

Gogrial East County Health Department together with Implementing Partner(GOAL) today conducted the training of Supervisors in preparation for the forth coming National Immunisation days.

The training focuses on:

1. Equipping supervisors on knowledge necessary to supervise vaccinators, recorders and social mobilizers on how to carry out the compaign.

2. To affirm the readiness of the county in regards to the this national immunisation days.

We call upon all Apuk citizens to support this forthcoming polio campaign to protect our children 0_5 years from Polio which has been detected recently in the neighboring counties.

The County Health Administrations would like to inform the public and relevant stakeholders that NOPV2 and bOPV vaccines, together with droppers and other dry supplies, were received today at Kuajok Airport for distribution to the respective counties.

The details of the vaccines and supplies received are as follows:

GOGRIAL EAST COUNTY | 28 𝐒𝐄𝐏𝐓𝐄𝐌𝐁𝐄𝐑 2026

The Director of Gogrial East County Health Department (CHD), 𝐃𝐫. 𝐃𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐨 𝐀𝐠𝐢𝐦 𝐉𝐨𝐤, yesterday conducted a supportive supervision visit to Majak-Nyuom Primary Health Care Centre (PHCC) as part of his ongoing engagement with health facilities across the county.

The visit also provided an opportunity for the Director, as the newly appointed CHD leadership, to interact with facility staff, understand their working environment, and listen directly to the challenges affecting service delivery.

During the interaction, 𝐃𝐫. 𝐃𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐨 appreciated the facility staff for their tireless commitment and dedication to serving the community despite the existing challenges. He emphasized the importance of time management, strict adherence to the duty roster, teamwork, and mutual respect among colleagues as key elements for effective and quality health service delivery.

𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐑𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐟𝐟

The facility team highlighted several challenges requiring attention, including:

Lack of electricity to support essential facility operations.

Shortage of essential medicines, particularly uterotonic medicines required for maternity services.

Inadequate facility furniture and equipment.

Delays in staff incentives, affecting staff welfare and motivation.

Inadequate infrastructure to support the delivery of essential health services, among other challenges.

The visit forms part of the CHD's efforts to strengthen supportive supervision, improve communication with frontline health workers, and identify practical solutions to challenges affecting healthcare delivery in Gogrial East.

𝐃𝐫. 𝐃𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐨 has also appealed to Apuk citizens and well-wishers to join hands in supporting the health sector in Gogrial East, recognizing that improving healthcare requires collective responsibility from government, partners, communities, and citizens.

Together, we can strengthen our health facilities and improve access to quality healthcare for our people.

BREAKINGS NEWS: RESUMPTION OF BCG VACCINATION SERVICES IN ALL HEALTH FACILITIES IN GOGRIAL EAST COUNTY.

This is to inform the general public, mothers, caregivers, and all health partners that:

BCG vaccine is now available again at all supported and nonsupported PHCUs/PHCCs in Gogrial East County.

BCG vaccination had been out of stock in the country for the last 9 months now.
And today start ministry of health have supplied Gogrial East County with vaccines. after receiving the vaccines Achuil Achan Achuil the County EPI supervisor took it to his page and here is what he said.

"Dear Gogrial East Community, families, parents

Announcement from Gogrial East CHD EPI department
we have received BCG Antigen for the prevention of Tuberculosis which had stockout since January in the whole country, but now the government of South Sudan with it health partners have did their best to brought BCG back !

now is your duty as the mother, father, and family to check on your child immunizations status if your child is not having BCG mark on the left forearm of your child and is below 1 yr then bring your child to be immunised .

BCG will also be given along other antigens if your child is qualified for!

importantly, all the families are ask to consider 9 visits of your child to the health facility for complete immunizations .

⚠️ RUTF IS THERAPEUTIC TREATMENT, NOT A SNACK

Gogrial East County Health Department reminds parents, caregivers, communities, and all community members that Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF) is a specialized nutritional treatment used to manage Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM), particularly among children under five years of age.

Although RUTF may look and taste like peanut butter, it is not an ordinary food or snack. It is carefully formulated to provide the specific energy and nutrients needed by severely malnourished children during treatment.

🚨 Why RUTF Must Not Be Misused

1. It is intended for children receiving treatment for severe malnutrition
RUTF is provided according to nutritional treatment protocols and should be consumed only by the child for whom it has been prescribed or provided.

2. Every sachet matters
RUTF supplies are limited. When RUTF is shared with healthy children, adults, or other household members, it can reduce the amount available to children who urgently need it for recovery.

3. It is not a substitute for a normal family diet
Healthy adults and children should obtain their nutrients from a diverse and balanced diet rather than using therapeutic food unnecessarily.

🥗 What Should Healthy Family Members Eat?

Families should promote a balanced diet that includes, where available:

• Cereals and whole grains
• Beans and other legumes
• Vegetables and fruits
• Eggs, milk and other animal-source foods
• Fish, meat and poultry
• Healthy sources of fats and oils

If your child is enrolled in a nutrition treatment programme and receives RUTF, follow the instructions given by health and nutrition workers. Do not sell, exchange, share, or use the sachets as ordinary snacks.

GOGRIAL EAST CHD JOINS WARRAP STATE NUTRITION CLUSTER MEETING

WARRAP STATE | 15 SEPTEMBER 2026 — The Nutrition Cluster Meeting has kicked off today at the State Ministry of Health – Warrap State, bringing together County Health Departments, government health authorities, and nutrition partners.

The Gogrial East County Health Department Director, Dr. Agim Donato Jok is participating in the meeting alongside other CHD Directors and key stakeholders.

The meeting focuses on strengthening nutrition coordination, reviewing ongoing interventions, identifying service delivery gaps, and enhancing collective efforts to improve nutrition outcomes across Warrap State.

JOINT NEEDS ASSESSMENT FOR DISPLACED COMMUNITIES IN GOGRIAL EAST

GOGRIAL EAST | SEPTEMBER 14, 2026 - The Gogrial East County Health Department (CHD), together with SMoH, WHO, GOAL, World Vision, and Islamic Relief, conducted a joint humanitarian needs assessment focusing particularly on the needs of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in the county.

The assessment covered health, nutrition, WASH, and food security, aiming to identify urgent gaps and guide coordinated humanitarian support for displaced and vulnerable communities.

Gogrial East CHD appreciates all partners for their continued collaboration and commitment to supporting communities affected by displacement.
