On February 25, 2025, 𝐂𝐝𝐞. 𝐃𝐫. 𝐉𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐖𝐚𝐧𝐢 𝐈𝐠𝐠𝐚 officially assumed the role of SPLM Secretary-General in the presence of Chairperson and President 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐯𝐚 𝐊𝐢𝐢𝐫 𝐌𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐭. This transition marks a significant moment in the SPLM’s journey, reaffirming the party’s commitment to unity, stability, and progress for the people of South Sudan.

As we honor the history and achievements of the SPLM, let us uphold the movement’s legacy with pride, placing our hands on our chests and chanting:

In a bid to address the rising inflation and stabilize the local currency, President Salva Kiir has directed the Bank of South Sudan to take urgent measures to restore the value of the South Sudanese Pound.

The directive was issued during the swearing-in ceremony of Dr. Addis Ababa Othow as the First Deputy Governor of the Central Bank. During the event, President Kiir emphasized the need for strong leadership and collaboration to stabilize the country’s economy and ensure its continued growth.

Both Central Bank Governor Johnny Ohisa Damian and Dr. Othow committed to working together in strengthening South Sudan’s financial system, with a focus on maintaining price stability to support sustainable economic development.

In a powerful display of continuity and commitment to South Sudan’s future, Chol Garang Mabior was recently seen standing alongside President Salva Kiir. As the son of the late Dr. John Garang de Mabior, a revered leader and founding father of South Sudan. Chol Garang carries forward a legacy that was instrumental in the nation’s liberation struggle and subsequent formation.

His presence with President Kiir not only underscores his personal involvement in the evolving political landscape but also signals the emergence of a new generation of leadership dedicated to the country’s development.

With deep roots in the ideals championed by his father, Chol Garang Mabior is poised to play an influential role in shaping the future of South Sudan, reinforcing the enduring spirit of resilience and progress that has defined the nation’s journey.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐜𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐊𝐞𝐫𝐛𝐢𝐧𝐨 𝐊𝐮𝐚𝐧𝐲𝐢𝐧 𝐁𝐨𝐥. 𝐀 𝐏𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐒𝐮𝐝𝐚𝐧´𝐬 𝐋𝐢𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐠𝐠𝐥𝐞.

In the history of South Sudan’s quest for freedom, the late Comrade Kerbino Kuanyin Bol is remembered as a symbol of resilience and unwavering commitment.

Hailing from the Twic community in Warrap State, within the Bahr el Ghazal region, his life and sacrifices stand testament to the courage that fueled the SPLA/M movement during the country’s long journey to independence.

Comrade Kuanyin was born and raised amidst the rich cultural tapestry of the Twic community. From an early age, he embraced the values of solidarity, courage, and a profound sense of responsibility to his people, qualities that later defined his role in the liberation struggle.

As the Sudan People’s Liberation Army/Movement (SPLA/M) mobilized to secure independence, Comrade Kuanyin emerged as a dedicated fighter. Amid the hardships and uncertainties of armed conflict, he fully committed to the cause of a free and sovereign South Sudan. His contributions extended beyond the battlefield; he also played a crucial role in bridging the gap between military operations and humanitarian relief.

During the turbulent years of conflict, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) worked tirelessly to provide humanitarian assistance to those caught in the crossfire. Comrade Kuanyin, recognizing the critical importance of these efforts, collaborated closely with ICRC staff. His work facilitated the delivery of much-needed aid to affected communities, thereby mitigating civilian suffering and reinforcing the human dimensions of the liberation struggle.

Comrade Kerbino Kuanyin Bol’s contributions during the SPLA/M struggle have left an indelible mark on the history of South Sudan. His dual role as a fighter and humanitarian liaison exemplifies the spirit of sacrifice and unity that underpinned the independence movement. Today, his legacy continues to inspire new generations of South Sudanese, serving as a reminder of the extraordinary determination required to overcome oppression and achieve national self-determination.

As South Sudan thrives as an independent nation, the memory of heroes like Comrade Kuanyin remains a cornerstone of the collective identity and resilience of its people—a legacy that will forever echo in the journey toward justice and lasting peace.

𝐖𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫: 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐒𝐮𝐝𝐚𝐧 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝-𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧

The recent leadership event at the SPLM House, where the spirit of “SPLM Oyee” was on full display. Party leaders and members, all dressed in red, gathered to applaud the renewed vigor of the ruling party.

Dr. James Wani Igga officially assumed the role of SPLM Secretary-General in the presence of Chairperson and President Salva Kiir. President Kiir highlighted that Dr. Igga’s extensive experience and leadership qualities make him the ideal choice to revive the party’s foundational objectives.

The swearing-in ceremony, officiated by Justice James Alteib, marked several key appointments.

1- Bol Makueng was named Secretary for Political Affairs and Mobilization.
2- Kuong Danhier Gatluak became the First Deputy Secretary-General.
3- Magok Magok Deng was appointed SPLM Chairperson for Warrap State.
4- Charles Abyei Jok took the position for Abyei.
5- Peter Guzulu Maze was designated for the Pibor Administrative Area.
6- Peter Kuot was sworn in as a member of the Liberation Council


In his acceptance speech, Dr. Igga promised to infuse the party with new energy and innovation. He thanked President Kiir for his unwavering commitment to national unity and assured members that the recent leadership changes would only strengthen SPLM’s mission.

Dr. Igga’s appointment is viewed not as a demotion, but as a well-deserved recognition of his ability to harmonize the party’s efforts for greater achievements in line with SPLM’s mission as South Sudan’s founding political party.
