Hon. Minister made the remarks during South Sudanese Students' Cultural Gala organised by students' leadership in Kampala, Uganda where she was invited as the guest of honour.
She advised students to remain focused on their education, emphasizing that success requires commitment, dedication, and perseverance as education is the strongest foundation for both personal and national development.

Represented by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Hon. Dr. Monica Agum Awet Akot, South Sudan was officially approved and registered as a full member of the IPC. This recognition grants our nation the right to participate in international Paralympic sports and to exercise voting rights in the IPC General Assembly.
This milestone is more than a membership โ it is a symbol of hope, inclusivity, and opportunity for South Sudanese athletes with disabilities. It reaffirms our Governmentโs unwavering commitment to empowering para-athletes, promoting equality, and advancing the growth of para-sports nationally and globally.

The National Ministry of Youth and Sports, State Coordinators and Sports Officials Resolved to Streamline Community Tournaments
29th August, 2025....The national Ministry of Youth and Sports, State and Administrative Areas Coordinators and South Sudan Football Association held a meeting chaired by Hon. Minister Dr. Joseph Geng Akech to discuss challenges surrounding community tournaments in Juba.
The Ministry recognises the role sports plays in building peace, social cohesion and unity. However, community tournaments in Juba have been marred with continuous violence among fans and sports officials in recent days.
Inorder to restore order and to follow standard sports regulations stipulated in the South Sudan Sports Development Policy 2024, the meeting resolved as follows:
1.โ โ Effective 2026, all community tournaments will be played in their respective States or Adminstrative Areas;
2.โ โ Governors or Chief Administrators shall make a request if they desire tournaments to be shifted from their States to national capital;
3. Organisers of community sports tournaments must register with and obtain prior approvals from the Ministry of Youth and Sports who shall liaise with relevant sports federation and law enforcement agencies to ensure safe, peaceful and professional sports tournaments.

28th August,2025.......The President of SSFF Francis Amin and his delegation briefed the Minister of Youth and Sports about plans to transform football across the country on Wednesday.
His plans include conducting Premier League, training football officials, infrastructure, transparency among others. Mr. Amin's top agenda also includes addressing the challenges facing the national team and ready for reform to represent the country in Regional and international games.
Hon. Minister Dr. Joseph Geng Akech congratulated the newly elected officials and reaffirmed Ministry's full support to promote football at all levels.
He encourages teamwork with clubs, sports officials and the Ministry to work towards achieving objectives of the South Sudan Football Federation.

The games include Football, Basketball, Volleyball and Athletics. The meeting was chaired by the Hon. Minister, Dr Joseph Geng Akech.
Speaking to the media, Hon. Undersecratay Monica Agum Daniel Awet, expressed her gratitude to partners for continuous support for youth and sports empowerment to promote peace and unity among young people.
On behalf of partners, Mr. Innocent Modisaotsile, acknowledged the government commitment to promote gender equality in sports. He promised their full support to facilitate this fruitful sport tournament.

15th August, 2025...The Minister of Youth and Sports Hon. Dr Joseph Geng Akech officially opens the South Sudan Football Federation's 4th Extra-ordinary Elective Congress in Juba today with a call to promote peace and unity through sports.
The event is a milestone in the football history marking progress in sports governance to strengthen transparency, and accountability.
The Hon. Minister reiterated the government's commitment to support development of sports infrastructure, training and capacity building. He commended all the candidates for showing interest to serve the people of South Sudan and equally urged them to accept the outcome of this democratic way of choosing the leaders.
The event brought together FIFA, CAF and CECAFA representatives to witness the democratic transformation of South Sudan Football Federation.
