Canadians in : Starting next week, all regular passport applications must be mailed to the High Commission of Canada to Kenya in Nairobi for processing.

The Government of Canada is introducing temporary border measures in response to the Ebola disease outbreak. Travellers who have been in South Sudan in the 21 days prior to arrival will be subject to health screening and quarantine.

Amb. Minns, joined by partners from Norway, UNFPA and the Ministry of Health, visited Yambio to witness firsthand how coordinated investments are saving lives and strengthening national systems. These gains are only possible in an environment of peace — the foundation that allows services to function, communities to thrive, and development to take root. From maternity care to youth centres, the results highlight why sustained donor support continues to make a real difference for communities across South Sudan, and why protecting and advancing peace remains vital for progress to endure. Amb. Joanne Minns congratulated Hon. Thoan on his appointment as Minister of Health and welcomed the new Undersecretary, Hon. Dr. Oromo Francis Seriano. They discussed the strong Canada–GoSS partnership, Canada’s significant support to the health sector, and underscored the importance of the GoSS honouring its commitment to co‑financing the Health Sector Transformation Project (HSTP).
