Happy Teacher’s Day to my greatest empire of knowledge, my late Father and Mother.

You have taught many, inspired many and shaped countless lives. Taught by many, remembered by few, but your lessons live forever in the hearts and lives of those you touched.

Today, I celebrate two remarkable teachers, mentors and parents.

Late. Hon. Ustaz Makeer Thiong Maal and Ustaza Mary Benjamin Dhaal Mayen Kon.

Your wisdom, patience, sacrifices and dedication have made you more than teachers, you are builders of minds, characters and generations.

Happy Teacher’s Day, Dad and Mum.
May God continue to rest your soul in peace pop, bless you mum with good health, wisdom and many more years to inspire and educate others.

Your greatest lessons are not only what you taught us, but the people you helped us become.

South Sudan’s caretaker government says it will rely on provisional orders from President Salva Kiir to authorize government spending after the Transitional Government of National Unity was dissolved on September 22.

The 2026/2027 national budget was still being reviewed when the dissolution ended the mandate of parliament, leaving the budget process incomplete.

Government spokesperson Ateny Wek Ateny says the Constitution allows the President to issue provisional orders to keep government operations running while the budget is being scrutinized.

The caretaker government will remain in place ahead of the December 2026 elections.

South Sudan oil is being used as a political weapon, expert says

South Sudan’s dependence on Sudan’s oil pipelines has made its crude a powerful political and economic tool in Sudan’s ongoing war, according to Professor Taj Elkhazin of Carleton University.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, Elkhazin said, “The issue of oil is a classical case of mismanagement and a classical case of corruption.”

He said information from people he described as insiders indicated that about $4 from each barrel of South Sudan’s crude goes to RSF leader Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, widely known as Hemedti, while about $6 goes to the Sudanese army.

Elkhazin warned that Juba remains vulnerable because most of its crude passes through Sudan to reach international markets.

He also raised concerns over alleged RSF personnel operating near Juba, the movement of supplies through South Sudan and the credibility of the country’s planned December elections.

He warned that continued fighting in Sudan could further threaten South Sudan’s oil exports, border security and political stability.

Radio Tamazuj said it could not independently verify some of the allegations made by Elkhazin.

South Sudan’s caretaker finance minister says the country must urgently modernise its digital payment system to address a severe cash shortage that has left commercial banks struggling with liquidity and undermined public confidence in the banking sector.

Speaking Wednesday in Juba during a national policy workshop on the liquidity crisis, Athian Diing Athian said the shortage is driven not only by a lack of physical currency but also by declining trust in banks, which has prompted many citizens to keep their money outside the formal financial system.

“The liquidity problem is not only a problem of shortage of physical currency; it is also a confidence problem,” Athian said. He added that the government is ready to support investment in a modern digital payment system, arguing that South Sudan’s economy cannot continue to rely solely on cash transactions.

According to the minister, a secure and accessible digital payment infrastructure could reduce pressure on cash demand, improve the circulation of money throughout the economy, expand financial inclusion and make transactions safer and more transparent.

Athian said the Ministry of Finance is working with the Bank of South Sudan and the South Sudan Revenue Authority on reforms aimed at stabilizing exchange rates, reducing price volatility and encouraging citizens to return their money to formal banking institutions.

South Sudan has faced recurring liquidity challenges in recent years, with commercial banks frequently reporting shortages of cash as economic pressures and public distrust continue to strain the financial sector.

The government says expanding digital financial services is a key part of broader efforts to strengthen economic stability and improve access to financial services.
