Following the recent road inspection conducted by His Worship the Mayor and the relevant technical teams, Juba City Council (JCC) wishes to inform the general public that the road section between the University of Juba Roundabout and Buluk Police Junction will be temporarily closed.
The closure will take effect from 𝐓𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲, 7𝐭𝐡 𝐌𝐚𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐒𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐲, 10𝐭𝐡 𝐌𝐚𝐲 2026.
This will enable the road to be repaired for better traffic movement.
The general public is hereby required to plan accordingly.

The team visited key routes including the Malakia–University of Juba Road, Hai Thoura Road, and sections of the Gudele Lou Road. This exercise focused on identifying critical areas requiring urgent intervention, particularly the rehabilitation of potholes, installation of standardized speed bumps, and overall upgrading of road conditions to meet acceptable safety and engineering standards.

The initiative reflects the city’s leadership commitment to improving urban infrastructure, easing movement within the city, and enhancing road safety for all residents. Work is expected to commence within 07 days to address the identified issues and deliver durable, quality road improvements.

The festival stands as more than a cultural gathering it is a significant platform dedicated to celebrating the rich heritage of the Pojulu people while promoting peace, unity, and meaningful engagement across communities.

H.W Mayor Christopher Sarafino Wani Swaka commended the committee for its initiative, emphasizing that cultural preservation plays a crucial role in fostering peaceful coexistence and advancing social development in Central Equatoria State.

The Mayor also reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring adequate security during the festival and pledged support for essential infrastructure to facilitate a safe and successful celebration.

OFFICIAL NOTICE: TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE

The public is hereby informed that a temporary road closure will be in effect on 11th April 2026 along the route from Crown Hotel to Airport Gate

This closure is necessary to facilitate emergency road maintenance works aimed at ensuring the safety and long-term usability of the roadway. The works will be conducted throughout the day, and access along this section will be restricted during this period.

The Mayor carefully listened to concerns raised by traders, including harassment, illegal arrests, extortion by individuals posing as security personnel, overcharging, and insecurity within the markets. Matters related to documentation, fingerprint registration, and communication gaps were also discussed.

The Mayor assured all traders and the business community that the City Council leadership is fully committed to addressing these issues. The mayor affirmed to the traders that he has issued clear directives to the stop locking down of shops and harassment of traders by city council officers. He also outline to the traders the steps the council has taken in establishing a public relations office to listen to the concerns of citizens, establishment of telephone hotlines for immediate reporting of complaints and response. The council is also in an advanced stage in making sure that all Administrative Officers and Rate Collectors will have uniforms with clear identification numbers for quick identification of individuals with rogue behaviors.

On the other hand, Director of Administration of CID confirmed that action is already being taken against imposters, and the city will continue working closely with all security organs to restore order, fairness, and accountability.

The Mayor outlined steps to strengthen coordination, improve transparency, and establish clear communication channels. A written resolution will also be developed to guide implementation and ensure compliance with the law.

The Mayor reaffirmed that his priority remains creating a safe, organized, and enabling environment for all businesses to thrive in Juba City.
