WFP kicks off massive road projects in Jonglei State

The World Food Programme (WFP) is teaming up with the government to launch a major road rehabilitation projects in 2026, promising to connect communities and boost humanitarian aid efforts.

In a letter to the Ministry of Roads and Bridges, WFP confirms its intention to rehabilitate several key road sections to improve trade, access to essential services, and the delivery of humanitarian assistance.

This is a game-changer! The WFP plans to expand vital infrastructureI Jonglei State, building on previous successes.

The roads getting a major upgrades and rehabilitation are Ayod – Pathai – Mwotot – Waat – Walgak (95 km),Walgak – Kauruny – Ayobo (94 km), Mwotot – Lankien – Pathai (78 km) and Pathai – Karam (18 km)
and Poktap – Payuel – Pajut – Fatuel – Yuai – Pieri – Mwotot (139 km)

The work will include clearing bushes, improving drainage, and grading surfaces for safer and faster travel.
