The Governor of Upper Nile State, Hon. Jacob Dollar, returned to Malakal today following a three-day peace mission to Nasir County.

During the visit, the Commissioner of Nasir County, Hon. James Gatwech Jock Deng, expressed deep appreciation for the governor’s mission, noting that it successfully brought together community leaders, NGOs, and civil society groups, resulting in several important agreements.
The Acting Director of the Relief and Rehabilitation Commission (RRC), Mr. Changkuoth Wiyual, also thanked the NGOs for their attendance and support. He further appreciated their efforts in re-establishing their bases in Nasir town, describing it as a positive response to the directives of the local authorities.

WELCOMING OF KUETRENGKE PAYAM AND GUANG KIIR COMMUNITY PAYAMS.
December 8th 2025.
The event held yesterday not only marked the positive response of NGOs to re-establish their offices in Nasir, but also acknowledged the significant arrival of members of the Gaguang Community and the Thiep Community in large numbers to Nasir Town.
Their decision has been highly appreciated by the Governor of Upper Nile State, Hon. Jacob Dollar Ruot, who urged them to take the message of peace to the people of Thorow Payams and Kuetrengke Payam.
The Commissioner of Nasir County, Hon. James Gatwech Jock Deng congratulates both the Gaguang and Thiep communities for the wise decision they have made in registering their support for the government and joining the peace campaign and extend it to Mandeng boma, Kotkea Payam, Kier Wanding Payam and Wanding Payam.

Governor H.E. Jacob Dollar Ruot Meets NGOs Operating Outside Nasir, Urges Return of Offices to Nasir Town

The Governor of Upper Nile State, H.E. Jacob Dollar Ruot, today held a productive meeting with a delegation of humanitarian and development organizations currently operating outside Nasir. The discussion focused on strengthening coordination, improving service delivery, and restoring full operational presence within Nasir Town.
During the meeting, Governor Ruot expressed appreciation for the ongoing efforts by the NGOs to support vulnerable communities but emphasized the importance of proximity, collaboration, and direct engagement with local authorities and beneficiaries.
“Nasir Town is secure, stable, and ready to host full NGO operations,” Governor Ruot said.
“We encourage all organizations to return their offices to Nasir so that services can be better coordinated and delivered more efficiently to those in need.”
He reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to ensuring a safe and enabling environment for humanitarian work, pledging administrative support, improved access, and strengthened security cooperation to facilitate a smooth return.
The NGO delegation welcomed the governor’s call and expressed willingness to explore immediate steps toward re-establishing their presence in Nasir Town. They noted that returning to the county headquarters would enhance communication, reduce delays in response, and deepen engagement with communities.
