RIVERS OF BLOOD:
Today, the great people of South Sudan, alas, enjoy the fruits of the Revolution, brought about by the rivers of blood and mountains of bones shed during the SPLM 21 years of war for independence.
DIALOGUE AND PEACE:
We must devise methods, however hard they maybe, to tirelessly dialogue and bring peace. And this is, โif and if,โ we are to develop and bring prosperity to this people. The SPLM must emphasize and develop new ways of delivering social services to the people.
As we move to the new era of peace, the people of South Sudan, torn into pieces by conflicts, now face formidable social and economic problems. Yet, our country possesses tremendous opportunities.
THE SPLMโS IDEALS:
a) Liberation and Self-Determination;
From day one, our slogan/aim, were to free marginalized populations from political and economic domination.
b) Unity and Inclusivity/balancing;
To promote unity across ethnic, regional, and cultural divides.
c) Social Justice and Equality;
To build a society based on fairness, dignity, and equal opportunity.
d) Democratic Transformation;
To establish governance systems rooted in democracy and participation, and Organizing a successful democratic elections; represents a major milestone in transforming military legitimacy into civilian democratic mandate.
e) African Solidarity;
To stand in cooperation with other African struggles for freedom and dignity. Partners play the role of Regional and international supporting peace implementation, humanitarian recovery, and electoral preparations.
f) Political Organization; It transitioned from a military movement into a governing political party, guiding the nation after independence.
g) National dialogue, reconciliation and healing must continue to overcome the legacy of conflict and division.
CHALLENGES:
Despite SPLM Historic Role; the Nation faces the below significant challenges:
i) Internal Divisions: Factionalism has weakened cohesion and unity.
ii) Difficulties in transitioning: From liberation movement to effective governance.
iii) Economic Constraints: The SPLM and your government are aware of your economic difficulties; and doing its level best to improve the well-fare.
iv) Erosion of Ideological Clarity: A gradual shift away from foundational Pan-African and liberation ideals; e.g. combatting malpractices/corruption.
SOCIAL SERVICES:
The major problems herein, requiring immediate attention, fall in the arena of the economy, embody: dire social services such health, education. We are digging out new ways to rapidly and efficiently provide these services.
To provide clean drinking water, and build micro-dams for generating small scale hydro-electric power for rural towns; as well as the use of solar, wind and biogas energy sources.
WAYS FORWARD;
To address these challenges, and reconnect with its historic mission, the SPLM exerting efforts to:
โข Reaffirm Ideological Foundations: i.e.Return to the principles of Pan-Africanism, unity, justice, and self-reliance.
โข Strengthen Internal Unity: i.e, We shall Promote dialogue, reconciliation, and collective leadership.
โข Enhance Governance Capacity: i.e. The SPLM is determined to invest in institutions, transparency, and accountability.
โข Promote Economic Transformation: i.e. Focus on diversification, infrastructure, and human development.
โข Rebuild Public Trust: i.e. Deliver tangible improvements in peopleโs lives.
โข Reinforce African Solidarity: i.e. Deepen cooperation with African nations and institutions such as the African Union.
CONCLUSION:
As we move forward, let us collectively remember that the true strength of any liberation movement, lies not only in achieving freedom, but in sustaining it through unity, justice, and development.
Let us recommit ourselves to the vision of a justice, liberty united, peaceful, and prosperous South Sudan, particularly as we firmly support the leadership under President Kiir Mayardit.
In other words, the future depends on strengthening unity, accountability, inclusive governance, and lasting peace for coming generations.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
