Biography of Col.Peter Gatluit Nyuot Deng.

Colonel Peter Gatluit Nyuot Deng (1 January 1971 - February 14 2026) was a South Sudanese military officer who served in the SPLA and SSPDF.

Early Life

Col. Peter Gatluit Nyuot Deng was born in 1/1/1971 in Diror Payam in place called Hoyhol of Akobo County. He got initiated according to Nuer Culture at age of 13th in Hoyhol.
His father, Nyuot Deng had two wives and eight children.

His family Life.

His father Nyuot Deng married two wives namely Nyawera Puoy Kerjioka with five Children, all of them are boys as Rial Nyuot Deng , Chuol Nyuot Deng , L*l Nyuot Deng, Deng Nyuot Deng, Peter Gatluit Nyuot as last Born.
Another wife is named Nyakek Lham Diang with three Children, one boy and two girls named Nyang Nyuot Deng, Chuol Nyuot Deng and Nyakuiy Nyuot Deng.

1. Rial Nyuot Deng married two wives named Nyatot Chiok Luak and Wichar G*i Koryom
Nyatot Chiok Luak has four Children, two boys and two girls namely Brig. Gen. Kueth Rial Nyuot serving as Deputy Brigade Commander and Operation Commander in Western Equatoria State - Yambio, Nyawiey Rial Nyuot Deng, Koang Rial Nyuot Deng and Nyandey Rial Nyuot.

Wichar G*i Koryom has 8 children as four boys and four girls namely Nyakasare Rial Nyuot, Nyadieng Rial Nyuot , Nyakuoth Rial Nyuot, Deng Rial Nyuot, Nyekom Rial Nyuot, Lunyjow Rial Nyuot , Dobuol Rial Nyuot Deng, Tut Rial Nyuot (deceased) .

2. Chuol Nyuot Deng married one wife with one child named Sebit Chuol Nyuot which stays now in U.S.
L*l Nyuot Deng and Deng Nyuot Deng unfortunately passed on after graduation while singles.
3. Colonel Peter Gatluit Nyuot married five wives namely Charan Geng Yat, Ameer Madhier Wan, Nyayian Gatluak Reath, Nyandeng Nhial Lual and Nyakoang Tut Chuol
Their Children as follow:
1. Charan Geny Yat has two children, Nyamary Gatluit Nyuot and Buony Gatluit Nyuot (Deceased)
2. Ameer Maddhier Wan has three children, Machakel Gatluit Nyuot, Nyathok Gatluit Nyuot and Nyamal Gatluit Nyuot.
Machakel is admitted Student at Starford International University, he married to Nyabol Duoth Kuony Nyang with three children namely, Nyadiew Machakel Gatluit, Leer Machakel Gatluit and Nyamer Machakel Gatluit.
Nyathok Gatluit Nyuot is married to Budbud Chuol and blessed with three girls.
Nyamal Gatluit is still a school student at senior two student.
3. Nyayian Gatluak Reath, has two girls namely You Go Gatluit Nyuot and Dungengan Gatluit Nyuot, both are still school students.
4. Nyandeng Nhial Lual has three children, two boys and one girls namely, Deng Gatluit Nyuot, Nyuot Gatluit Nyuot and Chiruey Gatluit Nyuot (Deceased)
5. Nyakoang Tut Chuol has two boys and one girls namely, Nyawera Gatluit Nyuot, Pal Galuit Nyuot (Deceased) and Mut Gatluit Nyuot.

Military Career:

Col. Peter Gatluit Nyuot joined military for Liberation Struggles for independence of South Sudan in 1987 in Dirror when he was selected by his chief as requires by SPLA, he was taken to Bilpam for training and graduated in 1988 under Battalion Mat Two as Lance Corporal. Col. Peter Gatluit was singer, he used to energize his comrades using military rhymes and songs for moral and practical support during/before war and war-times.
He was taken to first military offensive against oppressors in 1988 in Nasir and subsequently the fallen of Nasir Barack in 1989.

His First Military Promotion

In 1991, Col. Peter Gatluit Nyuot was promoted to the rank of 2nd Lt
In 1994, Col. Peter was promoted to the rank of Captain
In 2005, Col. Peter was assigned as 4th Coy Commander of Pashoda battalion and taken to New Kush for training. He was trained as Commando Special Forces by Commander Colonel Richard, he graduated on June 10th, 2007.
In 2008, Col. Peter was promoted to the rank of Major, assigned as commander of 3rd Coy of Commando Special Forces and was deployed in Abyei under JIU as battalion Commander in 2009.
In 2012, Col. Peter was transferred back to Commando Special Force headquarters in Juba and taken to New Kush as 1st Coy Commander, he was trained as Commando Special Air forces for 6 months.
He was taken to Operation in Boma Payam of Pibor County, Jonglei State (Currently as Boma County, GPAA).
In 2018, Col. Peter was promoted to the rank of Colonel in Commando Special Forces, assigned in administration for Commando Special Forces.
In 2023, Col. Peter was deployed in Lainya County as Operation Commander for Brigade one.
In 2024, Col. Peter was deployed as Operation Commander for Brigade Two in Kotda.
In 2025, Col. Peter was deployed as Deputy Brigade Two Commander in Kotda till his departure on Feb 14th, 2026.
In late July 2025, Col. Peter Gatluit Nyuot was tested positive of Brucellosis, the treatment have been on going by then till he succumbed to the same disease.

The culture is the pride to the community. I witnessed this today when attended the Massive 3rd Annual Mundari Festival today and visited one of the biggest cattle camps in Terekeka County of central Equitoria State led by the able leader and governor H. E. Emmanuel Adil Anthony. This cultural festival acted as a tourist attraction, attracting both Domestic and international tourist. It promotes peaceful co-existence , regional and international co-operation amongst countries. The 64 tribes of South Sudan should learn from this awesome and amazing cultural event.

It was massive today the first day of the 3rd Annual Mundari Festival in Terekeka County of central Equitoria State 🙏🙏💪👑
