On 29 May, Ambassador Remco van Wijngaarden paid a farewell visit to Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul after serving as Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Thailand for almost five years.

During the meeting, both reflected on the longstanding friendship between Thailand and the Netherlands, the warm political collaboration between our countries, and the strong economic relationship between our two kingdoms. The Netherlands remains the largest EU investor in Thailand, while also serving as the no. 1 gateway to the EU for Thai investment.

The Prime Minister and the Ambassador also discussed opportunities for future investment and cooperation and reaffirmed their shared commitment to further strengthening the relationship between Thailand and the Netherlands.

They concluded the meeting by warmly wishing each other success in their current and future endeavours.

Op 29 mei bracht ambassadeur Remco van Wijngaarden een afscheidsbezoek aan premier Anutin Charnvirakul, na bijna vijf jaar als ambassadeur van het Koninkrijk der Nederlanden in Thailand te hebben gediend.

Tijdens het gesprek stonden zij stil bij de langdurige vriendschap tussen Thailand en Nederland, de warme politieke samenwerking tussen beide landen en de sterke economische relatie tussen onze twee koninkrijken. Nederland is de grootste EU-investeerder in Thailand en vormt tegelijkertijd de belangrijkste toegangspoort tot de Europese Unie voor Thaise investeringen.

Daarnaast spraken zij over kansen voor toekomstige investeringen en verdere samenwerking. Ook bevestigden zij hun gezamenlijke inzet om de relatie tussen Thailand en Nederland verder te versterken.

De premier en de ambassadeur wensten elkaar veel succes bij hun huidige en toekomstige werkzaamheden.

Gisteren liep de ambassade van het Koninkrijk der Nederlanden in Bangkok mee met Bangkok Pride 2026, samen met duizenden anderen die samenkwamen om liefde, diversiteit, inclusie en de vrijheid om jezelf te kunnen zijn te vieren.

Samen met partners, vrienden en bondgenoten vierden we de kleurrijke diversiteit van de Thaise samenleving en de vooruitgang die wordt geboekt op het gebied van gelijkheid en inclusie.

We blijven ons inzetten voor een samenleving waarin iedereen zichzelf kan zijn en met waardigheid en respect wordt behandeld.

Dank aan iedereen die van Bangkok Pride 2026 een kleurrijke, inspirerende en onvergetelijke dag heeft gemaakt. 🏳️‍🌈

Last week, Camerata RCO, the chamber ensemble of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra from the Netherlands, performed at Prince Mahidol Hall in Bangkok.

We are grateful to the College of Music, Mahidol University, for bringing together musicians and audiences through this special concert, and we are proud to have supported this inspiring cultural exchange between Thailand and the Netherlands.

Vorige week nam Nederland deel aan HortEx 2026 in BITEC Bangkok, de belangrijkste vakbeurs in Azië voor technologie op het gebied van tuinbouw, glastuinbouw en sierteelt. Voor deze gelegenheid reisde een delegatie van 15 Nederlandse tuinbouwbedrijven af naar Thailand.

Het Netherlands Pavilion werd officieel geopend door de heer Watcharaphon Khawkham, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives van Thailand. Zijn bezoek onderstreepte de sterke landbouwrelatie tussen Thailand en Nederland en onze gedeelde ambitie voor duurzame landbouw.

Tijdens het tweedaagse programma bood het Netherlands Pavilion een platform voor Nederlandse bedrijven, partners en organisaties die actief zijn op het gebied van glastuinbouw, tuinbouwtechnologie en agrarische innovatie.

Het programma bestond uit de officiële opening van het Netherlands Pavilion, verschillende landensessies, netwerkevenementen en de sessie “Bridging Dutch Expertise with ASEAN-5 Horticulture Needs”. Tijdens deze sessie wisselden deelnemers samen met partners uit Thailand en de bredere ASEAN-regio kennis uit en spraken zij over uitdagingen, kansen en praktische manieren om de samenwerking verder te versterken.

Daarnaast werd, samen met verschillende partners en experts uit Thailand, Japan, Vietnam en de Europese Unie in Thailand, een seminar georganiseerd over het belang van kwekersrecht en intellectueel eigendom.

Last week, the Netherlands participated in HortEx 2026 at BITEC Bangkok, Asia’s premier trade fair for horticultural and floricultural production and processing technology. A delegation of 15 Dutch companies from the Horticulture sector came to Thailand for this occasion.

The Netherlands Pavilion was honored to be officially opened by Mr. Watcharaphon Khawkham, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Cooperatives of Thailand, during a special orange ribbon-cutting ceremony. His visit highlighted the strong agricultural partnership between Thailand and the Netherlands and our shared ambition for a sustainable agriculture.

During the two-day program, the Netherlands Pavilion created a platform forDutch companies, partners and stakeholders active in greenhouse technology, horticulture and agricultural innovation.

The program included the official opening of the Netherlands Pavilion, country sessions, networking events and the session “Bridging Dutch Expertise with ASEAN-5 Horticulture Needs”. In this session, together with partners from Thailand and the wider ASEAN region, participants exchanged knowledge and discussed challenges, opportunities and practical ways to strengthen cooperation. On Friday with a number of these partners, but also experts from Thailand, Japan, Vietnam and the EU in Thailand, a seminar was organized on the importance of Plant Variety Protection and intellectual property.

✈️ 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗶 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁-𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗻 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗮

Thai nationals residing in Thailand who apply for a short-stay Schengen visa in Thailand may now be eligible for longer-validity multiple-entry visas under the new EU “visa cascade” system, provided they have a positive visa history and have used previous visas lawfully.

This aims to make the issuance of multiple-entry visas for frequent travellers with a positive travel history simpler, more transparent and more predictable.

Eligible applicants may qualify step by step for:
• 1-year multiple-entry visa: if the applicant has obtained and lawfully used one Schengen visa within the previous 2 years
• 2-year multiple-entry visa: if the applicant has obtained and lawfully used a previous 1-year multiple-entry visa within the previous 3 years
• 5-year multiple-entry visa: if the applicant has obtained and lawfully used a previous 2-year multiple-entry visa within the previous 4 years

Please note that this is not a visa exemption. Thai nationals still need to apply for a Schengen visa through the regular process and existing requirements remain unchanged.

All visa applications continue to be assessed individually in The Hague. The validity of the visa also depends on the validity of the applicant’s passport and the overall assessment of the application.

A multiple-entry visa does not allow travellers to stay longer than the standard short-stay rules. Short stays remain limited to a maximum of 90 days in any 180-day period.

ผู้มีสัญชาติไทยที่พำนักอยู่ในประเทศไทยและยื่นขอวีซ่าเชงเกนระยะสั้นในประเทศไทย อาจมีสิทธิได้รับวีซ่าแบบเข้าออกได้หลายครั้ง (multiple-entry visa) วีซ่าจะมีอายุยาวขึ้น ภายใต้ระบบใหม่ของสหภาพยุโรป “visa cascade”
หากมีประวัติการได้รับวีซ่าที่ดีและใช้วีซ่าก่อนหน้าอย่างถูกต้องตามกฎหมาย

มาตรการนี้มีเป้าหมายเพื่อให้การออกวีซ่าแบบเข้าออกได้หลายครั้งสำหรับผู้เดินทางเป็นประจำที่มีประวัติการเดินทางที่ดี เป็นไปอย่างง่ายขึ้น โปร่งใสมากขึ้น และคาดการณ์ได้มากขึ้น

โปรดทราบว่ามาตรการนี้ไม่ใช่การยกเว้นวีซ่า ผู้มีสัญชาติไทยยังคงต้องยื่นขอวีซ่าเชงเกนตามขั้นตอนปกติ และเงื่อนไขเดิมยังคงมีผลบังคับใช้

คำร้องขอวีซ่าทุกกรณียังคงได้รับการพิจารณาเป็นรายบุคคลที่กรุงเฮก ประเทศเนเธอร์แลนด์ อายุของวีซ่ายังขึ้นอยู่กับอายุของหนังสือเดินทางและผลการพิจารณาคำร้องโดยรวม

วีซ่าแบบเข้าออกได้หลายครั้งไม่ได้อนุญาตให้พำนักได้นานกว่ากฎการพำนักระยะสั้นตามปกติ โดยการพำนักระยะสั้นยังคงจำกัดไม่เกิน 90 วัน ภายในช่วงเวลา 180 วัน

Op 13 mei 2026 verwelkomde ambassadeur Remco van Wijngaarden alumni, partners en vrienden tijdens de jaarlijkse alumninetwerkbijeenkomst in de residentie van de Nederlandse ambassade in Bangkok.

De middag stond in het teken van een inspirerende lezing over “Resilient & Livable Cities: Pathways to Sustainable Urban Life” door twee vooraanstaande academische alumni, gevolgd door de Algemene Ledenvergadering van de Netherlands Alumni Association Thailand (NAAT) en een netwerkreceptie.

Deze jaarlijkse bijeenkomst is altijd een waardevolle gelegenheid om opnieuw in contact te komen met de alumnigemeenschap, stil te staan bij de vele activiteiten en resultaten van het afgelopen jaar, en vooruit te kijken naar toekomstige samenwerkingen en vriendschappen.

Nu de ambassade zich voorbereidt op een nieuw hoofdstuk, blijft één boodschap duidelijk: de sterke banden binnen de alumnigemeenschap blijven bestaan, ook buiten deze residentie.

Wij zien alumni als belangrijke ambassadeurs van Nederland. Met hun ervaringen, kennis en netwerken blijven zij de hechte banden tussen Thailand en Nederland versterken en toekomstige generaties studenten inspireren.

The afternoon featured an inspiring talk on “Resilient & Livable Cities: Pathways to Sustainable Urban Life” by two distinguished academic alumni, followed by the Annual General Meeting of the Netherlands Alumni Association Thailand (NAAT) and a networking reception.

This annual gathering is always a valuable opportunity to reconnect with the alumni community, reflect on the many activities and achievements of the past year, and look ahead to future collaborations and friendships.

As the Embassy prepares for a new chapter, one message remains clear: the strong ties within the alumni community will continue beyond this residence.

We believe alumni are among the most important ambassadors of the Netherlands. Through their experiences, knowledge and connections, they continue to strengthen the close ties between Thailand and the Netherlands and inspire future generations of students.

ภายในงานมีการบรรยายที่สร้างแรงบันดาลใจในหัวข้อ
“เมืองที่ยืดหยุ่นและน่าอยู่ : แนวทางสู่คุณภาพชีวิตเมืองอย่างยั่งยืน” โดยศิษย์เก่าผู้ทรงคุณวุฒิสองท่าน ก่อนเข้าสู่การประชุมสามัญประจำปีของสมาคมศิษย์เก่าเนเธอร์แลนด์แห่งประเทศไทย (NAAT) และ networking reception เพื่อกระชับความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างกัน

การรวมตัวประจำปีครั้งนี้ ถือเป็นโอกาสสำคัญที่ทำให้ทุกคนได้กลับมาพบปะ เชื่อมโยงความสัมพันธ์ และมีโอกาสร่วมย้อนมองกิจกรรมและความสำเร็จตลอดปีที่ผ่านมา พร้อมมองไปข้างหน้ากับความร่วมมือและมิตรภาพในอนาคต
