MiVana Organic Forest Coffee project is established to encourage the watershed forest coffee farming in Chiang Rai province to balance, preserve and restore the fertility of the important watershed forests. We improve the health of important watershed forests by encouraging participating farmers to plant new coffee trees in the shade of existing forests. Restoring over 6,000 rai of degraded forest in this way adds an estimated 1,050 million baht annually to the value of the project area. In addition, with the support from Department Of National Parks, Wildlife And Plant Conservation and Department Of Agriculture Extention, MiVana Organic Forest Coffee project is contributing under agreement “MOU” by producing organic shade-grown coffee with 344 small-scale farming families working an area of over 20,000 rai in the watershed forests of Mae Lao, Mae Saruay and Mae Korn districts in Thailand’s Chiang Rai province. Degraded forests are revitalized as farmers plant young coffee trees in the shade of larger native trees. The delicate balance of nature is preserved. Biodiversity is enhanced. And the value of protected forests is increased for the future generations.
