🌟 Successful Handover Ceremony Held 🌟

On 29 April 2026, the Handover Ceremony for the project “Climate Action for the Last Mile: Reaching the Most Vulnerable Children in East Asia and Pacific Region” was successfully held in Hera, Dili, Timor-Leste.

The event was honored by the presence of distinguished guests, including:

● H.E. Mr. Dr. Flavio Brandao, Delegate of the Minister of Health, Vice Minister for Operationalization Hospital, Ministry of Health
● Mr. Marcolino Babo, Delegate from Ministry of Public Works, National Director
● Mr. Mateus Pinto, Delegate from Dili Municipal Authority, Director
● Mr. Antonio Marques da Silva, Hera Suco Chief
along with project stakeholders and community members

The ceremony marked the official handover of key climate-smart facilities, including a solar mini-grid system powering the Hera Health Post, nearby school, and community centre, as well as upgraded water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) facilities designed to withstand climate-related shocks .

These improvements are expected to significantly enhance service delivery at the community level. Reliable solar-powered electricity supports essential health services, including vaccine cold chain management, while strengthened WASH facilities improve water supply, sanitation coverage, and hygiene conditions in schools—contributing to a safer and more conducive learning environment for children.

The ceremony highlighted the strong partnership between the Republic of Korea and Timor-Leste, working together to strengthen climate resilience and ensure continued access to essential services for vulnerable communities.

We sincerely thank all partners and participants for their dedication and contribution to the successful implementation of this project. We look forward to its continued positive impact on children and communities across Timor-Leste.
