On 3 June 2026, the Promotion Directorate of the Ombudsman for Human Rights and Justice (PDHJ) conducted an awareness session for 26 female students from Grades 8 and 9 at Central Basic Education School (EBC) No. 1 Metinaro. Welcoming the activity, Vice Principal Ediana Simoa da Costa expressed her appreciation to PDHJ for engaging directly with the students and providing valuable knowledge that can support their learning, personal growth, and understanding of their rights and responsibilities.
Throughout the session, students actively participated in discussions on PDHJ’s role, the complaint process, children's rights, human trafficking, and gender-based violence. The session encouraged students to become more aware of the challenges facing young people and the importance of respecting and protecting human rights in their schools, families, and communities.
PDHJ thanks the school administration and students for their warm welcome, active participation, and commitment to learning. Together, we can build a generation that is informed, empowered, and respectful of the rights of all.
