Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting a reception for Danish-Turkish artist Alev Siesbye following the preview of her exhibition in Galeri Nev in Ankara. ✨

Siesbye is internationally recognized for her exceptional stoneware ceramics. She has been awarded the prestigious Lifelong Arts Scholarship from the Danish Arts Foundation, honouring her as one of the most extraordinary ceramic artists.

Her works are on exhibition at Galeri Nev until 1 June 2026.

Due to an unusually high number of visa applications, the Embassy is currently experiencing longer processing times. If you submit your application as of today, you should expect a processing time of up to 40 days. We are working hard to process all applications as quickly as possible and in accordance with applicable regulations.

Please note that your passport will be held during the processing period. If you have other travel plans, we strongly recommend applying well in advance or submitting your application after your planned trip. Individual cases cannot be expedited unless there are urgent reasons.

This week, a delegation from the Glyptoteket, led by Director Gertrud Hvidberg-Hansen, is visiting Istanbul to explore the possibilities for future research and exhibition collaborations with some of the city’s art and archaeology museums. The Danish Embassy in Ankara has been on the trip for the past three days, which have been filled with fantastic museum visits and promising meetings.

On Monday, the Glyptoteket delegation, together with Ambassador Ole Toft, visited the Archaeological Museum in Istanbul.

Yesterday, the Ambassador held a reception for the Glyptoteket and invited guests, including the Danish Consulate General, local museum directors and Danish-Turkish business people. In his speech, the Ambassador emphasized the many opportunities in the continued cooperation between Denmark and Türkiye, and the Glyptoteket’s museum director thanked for the warm welcome and presented the upcoming major restoration project at the Glyptoteket.

Today, the delegation from the Glyptoteket, together with the embassy, ​​visited the Sabancı Museum, which is located in the most beautiful surroundings. Along the way, knowledge and opinions about art and exhibitions were exchanged. The visit ended with a refreshing walk in the beautiful museum garden.

The embassy thanks everyone who contributed to making the Glyptoteket's visit memorable, and wishes the Glyptoteket good luck with future Danish-Turkish museum cooperation.
