Strengthening Ghana–Türkiye Industrial Cooperation
On 16 January 2026, H.E. Abdul Nasiru-Deen, Ambassador of Ghana to Türkiye, led the Ghana Embassy team to OSTİM Organized Industrial Region, Ankara, one of Türkiye’s leading industrial hubs with 6,500+ companies and 65,000 workers.
The delegation held engagements with OSTİM Technical University, OSTİM Foundation and OSTİM Investment Center, focusing on scholarships and academic exchange programmes, vocational and artisan skills training, SME and industrial zone development, and investment and technical support. Discussions also explored adapting the OSTİM organized industrial zone model to Ghana, with Suame Magazine, Kumasi, identified as a potential pilot area.
It was resolved that an OSTİM delegation will visit Ghana in the first week of April 2026, with the Ghana Embassy in Ankara facilitating the engagements, to advance partnerships aligned with Ghana’s industrialization agenda, TVET reforms, AfCFTA strategy and 24-Hour Economy policy.

On Thursday I paid a courtesy and working visit to the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) as part of efforts to further strengthen Ghana–Türkiye relations.
The engagement highlighted the positive impact of YTB’s scholarship programme on Ghana’s human capital development, with nearly 500 Ghanaian students having benefited to date.
Through sustained engagement by the Ghana Mission, scholarship opportunities for the 2025 academic year increased by almost 100%, resulting in over 50 Ghanaian students receiving scholarships in various fields.
Discussions also explored expanded cooperation in key capacity-building areas, including crop and animal agriculture, education, fish farming, security and policing.
The President of YTB, Mr. Abdulhadi Turus, reaffirmed the Agency’s commitment to Ghana, indicating plans to offer additional capacity-building scholarships in 2026.
I remain committed to advancing partnerships to promote education and sustainable development for the benefit of both nations.

In my recent engagement with Doğanlar, one of Turkey’s leading names in agricultural machinery and commercial farming, the company expressed a strong interest in investing in Ghana.
Their focus on large-scale farming and local production of farm implements aligns strongly with Ghana’s push for increased productivity and most importantly, the vision behind H.E. John Mahama’s 24-hour economy policy, which emphasizes industrial expansion, job creation, and round the clock economic activity.
Doğanlar will be sending a management team to Ghana soon to engage with stakeholders and explore implementation pathways.
I look forward to supporting this promising partnership as we attract impactful investments for Ghana’s economic transformation.

I am pleased to share a major milestone in our efforts to deepen Ghana - Türkiye cooperation.
During my recent working visit to Konya Food and Agriculture University (KGTÜ) and Konya Şeker/Torku, two leading institutions in Türkiye’s agricultural and agro-industrial landscape, formally expressed their intention to pursue long-term strategic collaboration with Ghana.
Their Letter of Intent highlights potential partnerships in scientific research, digital and smart agriculture, technology transfer, food processing, industrial investment, and farmer-focused training initiatives, key areas that align strongly with H.E. John Mahama’s 24-hour economy vision, especially in boosting productivity and creating sustainable jobs within the agricultural value chain.
The institutions have also confirmed their readiness to send a high-level delegation to Ghana in the coming weeks to engage Government Ministries, Agencies, and private sector partners as we move towards concrete implementation.
This is a promising step for Ghana’s agricultural transformation agenda, and I remain committed to strengthening ties that deliver real value for our country.

I had the honour on Wednesday of paying a courtesy call, together with the Deputy Head of Mission, Mr. Dwomor Agyei Kwadwo, on Hon. Mehmet Ali Cevheri, Member of Parliament for Şanlıurfa, and Dr. Hasan Gezginç, Managing Director of TİGEM.
Our discussions centred on strengthening cooperation between Ghana and Türkiye in key areas such as modern agriculture, mechanisation, livestock production, and technology transfer. I reaffirmed Ghana’s dedication to building strategic partnerships that transform rural livelihoods, boost productivity, and enhance national food security.
This engagement followed a working visit to the Ceylanpınar Agricultural Enterprise, the world’s largest single-block farm, where we witnessed impressive innovation, scale, and advanced farming systems.
I look forward to deepening these collaborations for the mutual benefit of both nations.

Earlier this week, I had the honour of hosting and formally inaugurating the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) Türkiye Branch at my office. This gathering created an important opportunity to reflect on the essence of leadership, service, and the shared responsibilities we carry as representatives of Ghana in various capacities abroad.
During our engagement, I emphasised the value of purposeful leadership. A leadership that inspires, empowers, and builds pathways for collective progress. We discussed the important roles student leaders play in strengthening community, projecting Ghana’s image positively, and fostering unity among our youth studying in Türkiye.
I was pleased to welcome the National NUGS President from Ghana and his executives, whose presence added weight to our deliberations. Equally present were the NUGS Türkiye President and her executive team.
As the Ambassador, I remain committed to working closely with our student bodies to ensure their concerns are heard, their welfare is prioritised, and their leadership journey is well supported. Together, we continue to build a vibrant, focused, and progressive Ghanaian student community in Türkiye.

I had the honor of undertaking a working visit to Gaziantep last week, upon the kind invitation of the Southeast Anatolian Cereals, Pulses, Oilseeds and Products Exporters’ Association (GAİB), and with the support of the Ministry of Trade of the Republic of Türkiye. In my address, I emphasized that our trade relationship must move beyond the exchange of goods and become a catalyst for local production, industrial development, and real value addition. I highlighted the need for technology transfer, manufacturing partnerships, and agro-processing ventures that can create sustainable employment and drive economic growth.
This engagement formed part of the Sectoral Buyers’ Mission programme, a platform that convened a 30-member business delegation from Ghana, Togo, and Benin for targeted interactions with key Turkish exporters and industry stakeholders.
This provided a rich opportunity to explore new avenues of economic cooperation, deepen commercial ties, and encourage Ghanaian businesses to forge stronger and more productive partnerships within the Turkish market. It also allowed us to highlight Ghana’s continued commitment to broadening its footprint in Türkiye, both in trade and investment, while positioning our private sector to take advantage of the vast opportunities available.
I remain optimistic that the dialogues held and connections established in Gaziantep will translate into long-term collaborations that benefit our businesses, create jobs, and enhance bilateral prosperity.

Over the weekend, I had the privilege of visiting Şanlıurfa and Adıyaman a trip filled with meaningful conversations and promising opportunities for Ghana.
In Şanlıurfa, I met with the Mayor to explore a sister city partnership, alongside new areas of cooperation in textiles and agriculture that can benefit Ghanaians.
My engagements in Adıyaman focused on affordable housing, where Turkish Ministers and housing leaders shared insights and models that could support Ghana’s growing urban needs.
I also toured the remarkable Ceylanpınar Agricultural Enterprise, learning firsthand how large-scale farming and livestock systems can inspire new ideas for Ghana’s agribusiness sector.
The engagements ended with a warm dinner discussion with the Şanlıurfa MP and the Vice Chancellor of Harran University, as we work toward establishing a sister university partnership that will open doors for academic collaboration and youth development.
I am grateful for the hospitality and optimistic about the impactful partnerships ahead for both Ghana and Turkey.
