The Eco-Industrial Development Company of Tobago (E-IDCOT) Ltd promotes environmentally sustainable production, entrepreneurship, enterprise and innovation
The Eco-Industrial Development Company of Tobago (E-IDCOT) Ltd. was established by the Tobago House of Assembly (THA) in 2009 as a wholly-owned private limited liability company. E-IDCOT was formed as one of the ex*****on agencies responsible for driving economic development and transformation in Tobago in furtherance of the goals and objectives of THA’s Comprehensive Economic Development Plan (CE
DP). The core mandate of E-IDCOT is to facilitate the development and diversification of the Tobago economy through the environmentally sustainable production of goods and services on the island. In order to fulfil its mandate, E-IDCOT will develop, promote and manage a number of eco-industrial parks in Tobago, the first of which is the Cove Eco-Industrial and Business Park (CEIBP). This eco-park is located in the island’s south-western peninsula and covers one hundred and forty (140) acres on the Cove Estate located in Canoe Bay Road. The establishment of eco-industrial parks is one element of a strategy to diversify the Tobago economy away from its overdependence on tourism through the location, growth and development of environmentally-sustainable local, regional and international businesses. The CEIBP welcomes local, regional and international investors to an array of incentives that include free zone related benefits and attractive lease rent rates for land and built space. The sectors that E-IDCOT has placed emphasis on to drive the economic transformation process are agro processing, information and communications technology, food and beverage, renewable energy, creative industry and light manufacturing. In support of its mandate, E-IDCOT provides business facilitation services to individuals, start-up operations and established companies and collaborates with various local and regional stakeholders to form partnerships in order to reach potential and existing entrepreneurs. Additionally, they provide project procurement and project management services at all stages in the project cycle which includes: site selection, feasibility studies, project design, construction supervision and contractor selection.
