The Tuvalu National Library and Archives was established on the 1st September 1978 as part of Tuvalu's preparation towards their political independence.

Another successful event today at the Library with speakers from the US Embassy Suva Mr Strader Peyton and Esther Underwood.
The event title: "Chat with a Diplomat" provides engaging conversational experiences insights into the life and work of a diplomat, career pathways and opportunities for U.S exchanges. The event invloves interacting with students to develop better understanding of international relations in a practical relateable ways.

“Libraries for Sustainable Communities.”

This is a wonderful theme because libraries empower communities and contribute directly to the UNDP Pacific Office in Fiji Sustainable Development Goals. Libraries provide equitable access to information, promote lifelong learning, advance economic growth and foster community well being.

At the begining of this month, a study tour was organised by our department to visit various institutions in Fiji. These institutions include the National Archives of Fiji, Suva City Carnegie Library & American Corner Suva, FNU Library, Fiji Museum, USP Library and Library Services of Fiji.

The tour is about strengthening the capacity and enhance professional skills of library staffs through experiential learning, exposure, knowledge exchange and foster collaboration and long term partnership with visited institutions.
The visit consists of three library staffs and our Deputy Secretary from the Ministry of Education management team Ms Leilani Saitala

"Motufoua school started as a mission primary school for Tuvalu boys who were adherent of the
LMS. Today it is a government co-educational secondary school, Motufoua Secondary School" (Tito Isala).
Today, Motufoua Secondary School celebrate its 120th Anniversary 1905-2025.

International Archives Day is celebrated on June 9 each year to highlight the importance of archives in preserving history and cultural heritage, It is now day 4 of the archives week and It’s great to see Arts students from Fetuvalu High School getting involved in learning about archival displays and digitization processes. Teaching students about archival collections, preservation, and digitization helps them appreciate the importance of historical records.
