HOW TO EXCEL IN LEADERSHIP

AN EXCELLENT BOOK ABOUT LEADERSHIP.

WRITTEN BY AP. JOHN L. NENGALA.

INTRODUCTION.

This world is filled with followers, supervisors, managers, and bosses rather than leaders.

Leadership is extremely important, especially in Africa. Poor leadership has been detrimental to the continent. Africa's greatest need is leadership, leadership, leadership.

Poor leadership leads to broken systems, which result in a lack of unity, vision, and proper planning—opening the door for corruption and crime to flourish.

The consequence is instability, chaos, and ultimately civil wars. This has caused the poorest people in the world to live on the richest continent.

If spiritual leaders recognized their roles and the influence they have on matters affecting their nations, they wouldn’t live as they currently do.

I agree with the leader who said, “We cannot achieve success in any area of life without sufficient skills in leadership. Leadership is an art, and each of us must find our perspective on it. Essentially, we must understand how to lead ourselves, which means having a vision and direction that guides all our actions.

This vision often takes the form of a personal motto, a written guideline on how we should live.” As we lead others—whether as parents, employers, within families, or organizations—we must first lead by example, clearly demonstrating our values and how we live by them. Any breach in our morals and behavior will be evident, damage our effectiveness, and undermine our leadership. Personal agendas and favoritism are the nails in the coffin of our leadership ability.

This book emphasizes servant leadership. Servant leadership is about serving others, not being served like a boss. The author does not focus on titles but rather on what God has called you to do to help others grow.

The success discussed in this book is not about acquiring cars and houses—things that are not bad when pursued at the right time and in the right way.

Instead, success here means a leader succeeding by raising others who will take their place when they are no longer around.

It’s about succeeding in delegating responsibilities so that work is done faster and more effectively, as everyone has been given grace by God, and we all need each other. Success also means nurturing others’ talents, not destroying them.

The Bible shows us how Nehemiah led by example. He and his family actively participated in rebuilding the wall. “So we rebuilt the wall until all of it reached half its height, for the people worked with all their heart” (Nehemiah 4:6). “Neither I nor my brothers nor my men nor the guards with me took off our clothes; each had his weapon, even when he went for water” (Nehemiah 4:23).

This book also emphasizes efficiency. Efficiency is the ability to do things or complete tasks at the highest standard. Efficiency is needed in every area of life and service.

People who work efficiently and with excellence are the ones who succeed. To have a successful and quality ministry, you must resolve to be efficient. To be excellent is to thrive and go beyond! “But since you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in the love we have kindled in you—see that you also excel in this grace of giving” (2 Corinthians 8:7).

God’s Word says that if we obey and diligently listen to His voice, we will be the head and not the tail. In other words, we will lead in every area of life.

A believer is not an ordinary person; there is divine power working within them. To rise above others, you must excel beyond them.

For your company, business, or ministry to be successful and excellent, you must learn the secrets of being an efficient leader.

God’s Word says, “The saints who are in the land are the excellent ones.” We are the salt of the earth, required to set an example through actions, not just theories. In this book, we will learn, by God’s grace, how to be effective and excellent leaders.

We will explore the key traits of an efficient leader and 40 obstacles that can hinder progress in ministry.

The insights shared here are not just theoretical but are lessons God has taught the author over 16 years to be a blessing to others. We come to know God in various ways: through His Word, His revelations to us, life experiences, and other people.

One person said, “Experience is a great teacher, but it is the school of fools.” That is why God said some things happened to others so we could learn from their mistakes and not repeat them.

You will learn in this book about errors the author made so that you will not make them but do better. It is vital to learn from the mistakes of those who went before us so we don’t repeat them.

Many people, when faced with difficulties, blame God and complain without realizing that God allows those trials to strengthen them so they can become a blessing to others. “No testimony without a test.”

Becoming an excellent, effective leader in life, ministry, or business is not easy. There will be times of discouragement when things seem impossible. Don’t give up, for when you reach your limit, that’s when God begins to lift you. “Winners never quit.”

To become an efficient, excellent leader requires high levels of discipline to achieve great success. When a leader is effective, everything runs smoothly.

This book is valuable for spouses, businesspeople, leaders in various fields, and anyone seeking to excel in life.

I am deeply grateful that you chose this book and decided to read it carefully. I ask that you pray to the Holy Spirit before reading, asking for understanding and guidance to apply what you learn—and to faithfully teach others as well.
