Happy National Wildlife Day!

Today, September 4th, we celebrate animal species around the world and the urgent need for their conservation. It's imperative that we protect them by effectively managing and safeguarding their habitats. Here are a few faces from some of our Blue Parks, marine protected areas doing the incredible work to help marine ecosystems and wildlife thrive.

🦭 Hawaiian monk seal & sea turtle - .hawaii : Papahānaumokuākea Marine National Monument: Only 1,500 Hawaiian monk seals remain in the wild. (📸 )
🦞 California spiny lobster - Northern Channel Islands: These reef engineers help keep sea urchin populations in check, protecting the kelp forests they call home.
🐠 Sea goldies - Chumbe Island Coral Park : females can change s*x to become the harem's leading male.
🪸 Coral reef community - : nearly 600 fish species and almost 400 coral species packed into just 130,000 acres.

Protecting places like these means protecting the species that depend on them. 💙

We think they are amazing - come and check them out for yourself with a stay at Chumbe Island Coral Park!

The coconut crab looks like something from science fiction – or a fisherman’s fever dream. Also known as the robber crab, it is the world’s largest land-dwelling crustacean and the largest land-dwelling arthropod to boot, with a leg span of up to one metre and a body weight of more than 4kg. I...

We’re excited to launch the REDUCE Guidelines: Reducing Single-Use Plastics in Zanzibar’s Tourism Industry!

Developed by Blue Impact Network in partnership with Chumbe Island Coral Park and the Zanzibar Commission for Tourism, with support from the German Development Cooperation (GIZ) under the Western Indian Ocean Governance Initiative (WIOGI), these guidelines provide practical, evidence-based solutions to help tourism businesses reduce single-use plastics and transition towards more circular operations.

Whether you’re a hotel, restaurant, tour operator or tourism supplier, the REDUCE Guidelines offer practical tools to rethink procurement, eliminate unnecessary plastics, engage suppliers, and adopt reusable systems – without compromising the guest experience.

By working together, we can strengthen Zanzibar’s tourism industry while protecting the natural environment that makes our islands so unique.
