Irving Senior Center Celebrates Dolly Parton Appreciation Day
The Irving Community/Senior Center was seeing pink on Friday, September 25th, as senior patrons celebrated Dolly Parton Appreciation Day with a morning filled with music, laughter, creativity and a whole lot of Dolly spirit!
Patrons were encouraged to dress in pink or their best western attire, and they certainly embraced the theme. The Center was transformed into a celebration of all things Dolly, with her music filling the building throughout the morning.
Participants enjoyed a variety of Dolly-themed activities, including Dolly Parton word finds and word searches, along with a creative "Coat of Many Colors" Art Station, where patrons could express their creativity while celebrating one of Dolly's beloved songs.
No Dolly celebration would be complete without something sweet! Patrons enjoyed a Dolly Pink Lemonade and Sweet Treat Station featuring pink cookies and donuts. A lively round of Dolly Parton Trivia also challenged patrons to see just how much they knew about the legendary entertainer, songwriter, actress and philanthropist.
One of the highlights of the day was the Dolly Parton Look-a-Like Contest. Patrons showed off their best Dolly-inspired looks, with Joann Shelton taking home the coveted pink cowgirl hat trophy!
The celebration continued throughout the morning with Dolly Parton's music playing throughout the Center. The festivities wrapped up with a showing of the beloved classic movie Steel Magnolias, featuring Dolly Parton in one of her memorable film roles.
Dolly Parton once said, "Find out who you are and do it on purpose." The patrons at the Irving Senior Center certainly did just that on Dolly Day-celebrating with plenty of pink, laughter, friendship, creativity and fun!
At the Irving Community/Senior Center, special celebration days like Dolly Day are another way the Center creates opportunities for seniors to connect, laugh, participate and simply enjoy being together.
