McLeod will put Albany residents first

I'm voting for Carolyn McLeod for mayor of Albany. I know she isn't one of the good ol' boys or a marketing bro, but she is an Albany resident devoted to this city and to making it better for everyone who lives here.

What convinces me is what I've seen firsthand. Carolyn shows up to nearly every event in town and she listens to the people she meets there. I have also watched her change her mind when new information came to light and explain openly what it taught her. That willingness to update her views for the city's best interest is rare, and it's what Albany needs.

Her approach to homelessness reflects the same practical care: pair recovery and mental health services with clear community standards so people who are struggling get real help while our parks and neighborhoods stay safe for everyone.

Albany also faces hard choices about how we pay for and build our city. Carolyn opposes a proposed monthly street fee. Instead, she would press the state for more road funding and reprioritize the city budget. She also believes new development should pay its own infrastructure costs so existing residents aren't left covering the bill. I think Albany needs a mayor who puts residents first on these questions, and I believe Carolyn is that mayor.

Please learn where each candidate stands … and join me in voting for Carolyn McLeod on Nov. 3.

Ballots hit mailboxes this week, and the response has been amazing! Seeing your messages and photos of checked-off ballots means the world to me.

We’ve also seen a huge surge in yard sign requests and people asking how to pitch in. If you asked for a sign, hang tight. Our volunteers are getting them delivered as fast as possible!

Running for Mayor takes a lot of late nights, but this community makes every minute worth it. Thank you for your trust and support.

Reminder: Don't forget to sign your envelope and return your ballot to an official drop box!

Let’s finish strong! πŸ—³οΈπŸ’ͺπŸ»πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡ΈπŸ’œπŸ’›πŸ€

After careful thought, I felt compelled to speak. As the parent of a child the same age as one of the victims, and as the wife of a schoolteacher, my heart is completely broken over the tragedy in Bend. Sending my deepest condolences, thoughts, and love to all the families and community members affected by this devastating loss. 🀍

Our hearts are heavy as we learn more about the shooting at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend. When an incident like this happens, our hearts break. When it happens in our own state, we feel it to our soul.

Tomorrow morning, officers from APD will be visiting our schools to welcome students as they arrive. Our presence is to provide a friendly, reassuring start to the school day and to show support for our school community.

Our hearts are with the City of Bend Police Department, the students, families and school staff of Silver Rail Elementary and the Bend community as they navigate this difficult situation. We stand with our fellow law enforcement officers and the entire school community, sending strength, support and care to everyone affected.

We know, e-bikes and e-scooters are fun. We get it.
We have heard it all...
"They sell them at Costco, I didn't know kids can't legally ride them."
"I didn't know you needed a helmet to ride an e-scooter."
"But I like to ride on the sidewalk, away from the cars"

You must know the rules before you ride.
We have extra enforcement out for e-bike/e-scooter violations.
Ride safe. Ride smart.

Albany will start repaving some of its oldest streets under a program based on a new street maintenance fee the city council approved Wednesday night. [Read more] https://hh-today.com/mayor-breaks-tie-to-collect-fee-for-streets/

A large portion of Albany's local streets are considered in poor shape.

Quality over quantity when it comes to campaign signs! πŸ—³οΈ

When you see signs everywhere you turn, remember to check where they are actually standing. A cluster of signs across commercial lots or large developments often reflects the choice of a single property owner, not necessarily broad community support.

It is also important to consider why that property owner is backing a specific candidate. Major landholders frequently have personal financial stakes, tax incentives, or development interests tied to local elections.

Next time you spot a cluster of signs, ask yourself:

πŸ€” Is this a mix of individual homeowners and residents?

πŸ€” Or is it one property owner placing signs across their portfolio?

πŸ€” What financial or policy agenda might that property owner have for backing this candidate?

πŸ€” Who has this property owner supported in past elections?

As election day approaches, look closer at whose interests are truly being represented. Real momentum is built neighbor by neighbor!

And, yes, I still have signs available for my campaign. Send me a message to get yours!
