Back by popular demand!! 9:01 Albany Democratic Club's Voter Education Series.
Albany’s proposed 2027 budget is out, but what do the numbers actually tell us about the City’s financial future?
Join the 9:01 Albany Democratic Club for the next installment of our Voter Education Series as Karl Urich of Albany Data Stories breaks down the Mayor’s proposed budget: the assumptions behind it, what is and isn’t clearly accounted for, where significant funding questions remain, and whether the proposal addresses Albany’s underlying structural financial challenges.
Karl will walk attendees through the data and identify areas that deserve greater clarity, including questions surrounding funding for new initiatives, spending decisions, revenue assumptions, and the long-term sustainability of the City’s finances.
Deirdre for Albany, 6th Ward Common Council Member, will join the conversation to provide the Council perspective, including what the Common Council can and cannot do during the budget process and the role Council members play in reviewing, questioning, and ultimately acting on the Mayor’s proposed budget.
This education series is about giving Albany residents the information they need to understand the budget and ask informed questions.
A closer look at Mayor Applyrs' proposed budget, the financial challenges ahead, and the Common Council’s role in the budget process.
