I, Rodney Allen Bushe II, have resided in the city of Allentown for over 20 years. I attended Muhlenberg Elementary, Trexler Middle School, and graduated from William Allen High. I completed my education at Muhlenberg College in 2018 with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration. I have three amazing children with my soulmate, Angelina Arroyo, who I have been married to for over 10 years. Throughou
t my employment I have had the opportunity to mentor at risk youth. The mentorship created strong relationships with individuals lowering the drop out rate in the Allentown School District. I became an advocate for people suffering from mental health and developed an appreciation for individuals with different political views and understandings. The role of the Allentown City Council is to make the city of Allentown a better place in which everyone can live, work, and play. Allentown has gone through a great deal of change since I was a child and I know this city has a lot of potential it has yet to discover. My experience has given me the opportunity to relate with people from all nationalities, classes and creeds. One of my greatest strengths is understanding the differences we naturally have as people and finding ground where we all can relate. My goal for city council to develop space where we can all put aside our egos and differences to create a more welcoming city for all. Economic dignity, homelessness, developing a more robust downtown and solving the everyday issues our citizens face are my top priorities. If given the honor to be appointed to Allentown City Council, I will put myself aside for the greater good, as I have done many times before. I live, breath and love my city; from the beautiful scenery of Cedar Beach, to the electric energy of downtown, to casually walking the east side and engaging with the youth at Dieruff High School. Allentown is filled with a great people; it would be an honor and privilege to serve such a great City.
