We did it! Rachel Morse for Chugach Electric and I have been elected to four-year terms on the Chugach Electric board of directors.

Thank you to all the supporters who voted for me, door knocked and got out the word this year. I’m excited to get to work! 🌟

I won! 🎉

I am so grateful to every Chugach member-owner who cast a ballot, and to everyone who knocked doors, made calls, shared posts, and showed up throughout this campaign. This is your co-op, and you made this happen.

I didn’t get here alone. Thank you to my slate partner Rachel Morse for Chugach Electric, to The Alaska Center, Renewable Energy Alaska Project - REAP, IBEW 1547, my incredible coalition of endorsers, and to every friend, colleague, and stranger who believed this race was worth their time and energy.

I’m heading into this board seat with my eyes wide open. The decisions ahead, on gas supply, rates, and the future of our grid, are real and consequential. I’ll bring everything I’ve got.

And to my family, thank you for sharing me with this campaign and supporting me.

Now let’s get to work. Gunalchéesh, thank you!⚡

Enjoy this video my husband took when we heard the results. My older daughter Loretta also joined us for the results.

The Chugach Electric Member Advisory Council (the group of fellow member-owners who advise the board on behalf of our community) just published an op-ed in the ADN reminding all of us that this election matters. 🗳️

They put it well: the choices made by the next Chugach board will shape how we handle the coming end of cheap Cook Inlet gas, how we manage and grow our hydro resources, and how we responsibly bring in other proven generation sources to keep rates affordable for the long haul.

That's exactly why I'm running. These aren't abstract policy questions, they're decisions that will show up on your electric bill for years to come.

If you're a Chugach member, your ballot should have arrived in the mail / by email. You can also vote in person at the annual meeting this Friday, May 29 at ChangePoint Alaska.

Please read the full piece and then cast your vote. I'd be honored to have your support.

👉

This year’s board election comes as the utility prepares for decisions about gas, hydropower and future energy sources.

The holiday weekend is approaching! This is my ask to you: ask (at least) 3 friends or family members if they’ve voted in the Chugach Electric board election. If they haven’t, urge them to vote for Penny Gage and Rachel Morse for Chugach Electric for the two open seats!

And thank you!

This week I’m attending the Alaska Sustainable Energy Conference and enjoying seeing so many friends and colleagues I’ve worked with in energy issues for years.

Hydropower, data centers, rural microgrids, LNG, advanced nuclear, workforce, critical minerals…Alaska’s energy future is genuinely complex, and it is energizing to be in the room with so many people working on it from so many angles.

These are exactly the kinds of conversations I want to be bringing to the Chugach board. Our members deserve a director who is plugged in to what’s happening across the state and the industry.

Ballots are open through May 29. If you’re a Chugach member, I’d love your to earn your vote. PennyforChugach.com

When energy becomes unreliable or unaffordable, families feel it first - in their utility bills, their rent, their grocery costs, and their businesses. I'm running because this is a pivotal moment for Chugach Electric, and it requires the right kind of leadership on the board. That's exactly what I'm running to deliver.
