Stay Safe!

The Covington County Emergency Management Office is closely monitoring a potential tropical weather system that could impact our area.
At this time, there is still a great deal of uncertainty regarding the system’s development, track, and potential impacts. We simply want residents to be aware that we are monitoring the situation closely and staying in contact with our weather partners.
As a precaution, now is a good time to check your generators, make sure your NOAA Weather Radios are working properly, and replace batteries if needed.
We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as more reliable information becomes available.

You pick why you run...do it to honor someone. Do it for yourself or your agency. The Challenge is yours!!

🌙 OUTRUN THE DARK**

The calls come at 2 a.m.

They come the night before a holiday. In the middle of a storm. On the shift nobody wanted.

And every one of them is answered by somebody.

This October, we’re getting those people outside.

Outrun the Dark is a 13-day virtual challenge bringing public safety together from across the country.

Choose your distance:

🏃 5K — 3.1 miles
🎧 9-1-1 — 9.11 miles
🏃 Half — 13.1 miles
🏃 Full — 26.2 miles

Walk it. Run it. Hit the treadmill after shift. Get your entire center together. Bring your family. Challenge another agency.

There is no required pace and no single starting line.

You have October 19–31 to log your miles.

And on Halloween, we finish together.

🚒 Fire.
🚑 EMS.
🚓 Law enforcement.
🎧 Public safety communications.
🖤 And everyone who supports them.

Registration is OPEN.

Before the lights. Before the siren. There’s a voice.™

Today at First Baptist Church Andalusia , our office was invited to be honored at a special service dedicated to HEROES in our community. Where we heard about how grateful folks felt about having real hometown heroes right here among them. We heard a message about what it meant to be a true hero and what it takes to be a true hero by letting JESUS be the center of that calling. Thank you FBC of Andalusia for loving the 911 Team and making us feel so honored.
