The weather forecast looks perfect, and the garden grew about 12” last week with all the rain. Can’t wait to get back out in the dirt with all our community volunteers from 10-noon Saturday morning.

This organic garden is a demonstration and education project for the TJMS, started as a Girl Scout Silver Award project by Cadette Troop 557, with a portion of the produce going to the Arlington Food Assistance Center (AFAC) to support the broader Arlington community through its "Plot Against Hunger" program. Fava beans, tomato plants, and volunteers, oh my! Thank you to everyone who came out to work in the garden with us last week, especially our new volunteers who joined us via Saturdays in the Garden program. We hope to see you back in the garden in the future! (Not this Saturday, though, we are cancelling due to rain.)

What a glorious few weeks in the garden we’ve had recently! We are deep into strawberry season, our summer vegetables are in the ground and growing enthusiastically, our peas are starting to blossom, we’ve made multiple donations to , and we are ready and excited to welcome our neighbors and friends to the garden for our Spring Open Garden this Saturday, May 16 9-noon! (Note the different time, 9 instead of 10.)

Back to our roots (no pun intended) with Girl Scouts in the garden. Our garden was originally a Silver Award project, and we were so happy to welcome scouts from TJ and Fleet to the garden last week to plant flower seeds and basil, w**d, and harvest.
