Will always be remembered...

My husband, Drew Pearson, was attending West Point when we met. He was a man full of ideas and goals. These often came along with spreadsheets...he loved his spreadsheets. When we met I was a single mom with three kids. I never wanted to get married again, which I told him. Our first dinner date I though I was on a job interview as a wife, even though I made it clear I was never getting married. Some how, he probably had a spreadsheet made out that I didn’t know about, he convinced me that we needed to spend our life together beginning in Hawaii. My children from my first marriage became our children. Soon after we got to Hawaii we added a son. Life was full with Drew even though there was times he was pulled away from our family for his duty to the military. I was independent enough, he probably figured that out from our interview dinner he conducted, that the times he was away I was able handle everything on the home front. I never though that when I said that “til death do us part” on June 16, 2001 that it would mean that we would have less than a decade together. If I had known that I time together would be short, I would have still done it all over again. On April 30, 2008 during a deployment to Iraq he was KIA. The knock on the door was not one I had expected to receive and it was a knock that would change my life forever. Drew was lives within my heart everyday. I can still hear his advice or see him shaking his head about something I said or did with the smirk he liked to give me or the hands on his hips when he is looking at you. He will live with the hearts of our children and grandchildren that will never get to meet him. We will all make sure that he is forever remembered. We love and miss him everyday! Just as his last email to me that he sent from Iraq signed off saying “Well gotta go...I love and miss you everyday!!!!”
