Here’s how to participate:
♻️ Recycle your glass
📸 Snap a selfie while recycling
📲 Post it on Instagram (story or feed)
🏷️ Tag and

Reminder: Winners are based on the NUMBER OF POSTS, not the amount of glass recycled. Every selfie counts!

This World Environment Day, let’s come together to make a difference — one post, one bottle, and one act of recycling at a time. 💚♻️

🍋Was it worth a drive across town for lemonade? Absolutely! The students at Cooper Elementary Magnet School were hustling and absolutely crushing it at making delicious lemonade AND raising funds and supplies for our community’s homeless. We were honored to donate paper towels, disinfecting wipes, and dish soap to add to all the other donations from the community to go to one of our Certified Partner Agencies, HELP, Inc. Great job 4th graders for making an impact! ✨Hampton City Schools

Our Board of Directors recently gathered for their annual meeting, followed by a special reception to celebrate both new and departing members.

We’re thrilled to welcome Sam Poole to the board and look forward to the insight and leadership he will bring to our mission.

We also extend our deepest gratitude to Nhu Yeargin and Leigh Houghland as they complete their service on the board. While their board terms have ended, we’re grateful they will continue supporting our United Way as volunteers. Their dedication and commitment have made a lasting impact on our work and the communities we serve across the Virginia Peninsula.

To all of our board members—thank you for your continued leadership, guidance, and passion. Because of you, meaningful change is happening in our community every day.

We’re strengthening our alignment and deepening partnerships with one another—and our state association, United Way of Virginia—to amplify our collective impact. While each United Way responds to the unique needs of its community, we are united by one shared purpose: serving and uplifting ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed).
UNITED IS THE WAY to building stronger, more thriving communities for all.

What would you choose?

For many ALICE families, life isn’t about choosing between wants — it’s about choosing between necessities.
💡 Food or housing
💊 Medication or transportation
👶 Childcare or utility bills

The truth is, these challenges don’t happen separately. Families are often forced to make impossible choices just to get through the week.

If you could help a local family with one need right now, what would it be? Share your answer in the comments below. ⬇️

At United Way of the Virginia Peninsula, we’re committed to supporting hardworking families facing these realities every day — because no one should have to choose between basic needs. https://bit.ly/49oWHvS

1️⃣ Recycle your glass between June 1–7
2️⃣ Snap a selfie while recycling 📸
3️⃣ Post it on Instagram (story or feed)

Important: The winner is based on the NUMBER OF POSTS — not the amount of glass recycled. Every selfie counts!

It’s been a tough year for many in our community, and this is such a simple way to make a real difference. Let’s show the rest of the country what our community can do and bring home another win together. 💚

This Memorial Day, we honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. 🇺🇸

At United Way of the Virginia Peninsula, we pause as a community to reflect on their courage, dedication, and the freedoms their service protects.

We honor their legacy by continuing the work of caring for one another—strengthening our community through compassion, service, connection, and kindness. Honoring the fallen means showing up for the living—especially those most in need.

Today and always, we remember. 💙
