Attention U.S. citizens! Starting October 12, the European Union is rolling out a new automated Entry/Exit System (EES). U.S. citizens traveling to most European countries should expect new automated border checks and to have their biodata digitally collected upon arrival and departure. Consider this a not-so-subtle reminder to check your passport’s expiration date and start the renewal process (online or by mail) if needed. Munich, Germany: The U.S. Consulate General advises U.S. citizens of the closure of the Oktoberfest (Wiesn) grounds due to a bomb threat. According to current reports, the grounds will be closed until 1700 today, October 1, 2025. U.S. Consulate personnel have been advised to avoid the area.
