from the U.S. military’s premier Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, Explosives (CBRNE) formation honed their ability to enable large-scale multinational operations during Exercise Immediate Response in Europe.
American Soldiers from several 20th CBRNE Command units participated in the exercise with NATO and partner nation units.
Scheduled by U.S. European Command and conducted by U.S. Army Europe and Africa, Exercise Immediate Response demonstrated seamless integration between allied and partner forces, enhancing interoperability across air, land, cyber and CBRNE domains.
Approximately 12,000 troops participated in the annual exercise, which is part of the Defender exercise series.
Albania, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Slovakia hosted the multinational exercise.

🇺🇸🤝🇪🇪 U.S. Army Reserve Strengthens NATO Readiness at Exercise HEDGEHOG 2025
From May 3–18, Soldiers from the 86th Training Division played a key role in Exercise HEDGEHOG 2025—a large-scale, multinational joint Live Exercise (LIVEX) held in Estonia under the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD)’s Military Reserve Exchange Program (MREP).
Army Reserve leaders provided essential training oversight and operational support to the Estonian Defense Force, working closely with British and French allies to enhance interoperability, combat readiness, and multinational cohesion.
From mentoring the Estonian 112th Scout Battalion to integrating with allied armored and medical units, Army Reserve Soldiers proved that America’s Citizen-Soldiers are ready to deploy, train, and fight alongside NATO partners anytime, anywhere.
