Today, we honor the heroes who gave everything for our country. Their courage and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

As we gather with family this Memorial Day, let us take a moment to remember those who made our freedoms possible.

At last night's Influential Georgians Awards, we recognized Georgia Ports Authority President & CEO Griff Lynch as the 2026 Georgian of the Year.

And congratulations to Senate President Pro Tem Larry Walker on receiving the Exceptional Legislator of the Year Award.

Georgia is blessed to have such outstanding leaders.

Earlier this year, the Georgia Senate and I prioritized securing $409 million to build a new 300-bed mental health facility. More Georgians will have access to the care they need, in the right place, with the right people.

It will also help law enforcement focus on keeping our communities safe with these patients getting care in the right setting, instead of our jails and prisons.

Getting help should never be out of reach for anyone.
