As I go door to door, the number 1 question I get is: "why am I running"?
I love this question so I thought I would share my answer here:
The reason I am running again is because I want to continue to work on the projects we have started and are important to me. The Parks Creek reservoir is in the final phases of acquiring the land needed for construction, which is very important to the citizens of Jefferson. The Jim Joiner Rec center needs to be expanded with more playing fields and a larger building, and the roads continue to need to be addressed. While we paved and repaired many streets in 2019, we still have many more to take care of. The approved 2020 budget will allow us to allocate more funds to street repair than ever before. The expansion of I85 will mean growth, whether we like it or not, the challenge is in how we handle it. I have voted against the rezoning of property along Hog Mountain Road as it would adversely affect 2 neighborhoods on Story Porter Rd.

What are we going to do for Jefferson during the last few months of 2019 and in 2020? Plans include first and foremost a reduction in the City millage rate. We also are working on a roundabout at Jett Roberts road and hwy 82, continued repaving of our streets as well as repairing and replacing our aging city infrastructures. As your District 5 Councilman, I will continue to make the way for improvements in our beautiful community, if you have a concern please do not hesitate to contact me to discuss. I am always ready to hear about what my neighbors need.

Do you know what we have done as a team in City Council last year?? We were able to purchase 2 new Fire Engines, (cash) built roads and grounds buildings, graded and paved Old Swimming Pool road, Hill Top road, Pendergrass Station Subdivision, Heritage subdivision, and Hawks Ridge Subdivision. We lowered the city Millage rate and refinanced and consolidated City bonds. While doing all this, we still were able to save up money to continue to improve Jefferson! Big plans for 2020. . . . stay tuned!
