An early start today for a great cause! 🥞
Huge thanks to the for firing up the griddles at shift change for our annual BPD Appreciation Breakfast.
On a more somber note, our hearts are in D.C. this week as members of the Brookhaven Honor Guard participate in national remembrances for those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
Heartfelt gratitude and appreciation for all who keep our community safe.

Progress & Community in Brookhaven District 2!
It’s been a busy spring in District 2! Here’s a quick look at some highlights:
Investing in the Future: I recently hosted our local Brookhaven Girl Scouts at City Centre for a mock Council meeting. It’s inspiring to see these young leaders in action! Also a social shoutout to all the Odyssey of the Mind teams who joined us in the chambers to celebrate creative problem solving and leadership.
New Gathering Spots: We officially dedicated Woodley Plaza on Dresden Drive—a beautiful new walkable space for neighbors to connect.
Infrastructure Wins: The repaving of Apple Valley Road is nearly finished, key improvements for pedestrians and cyclists will follow soon. 🚲
Greenspace Growth: Exciting news! We’ve secured a new grant for the Ashford Forest greenspace. The funding will support some clean-up as well as new amenities in the parking lot area on Clairmont.
Summer is Coming: The Ashford Park Splash Pad is officially OPEN, and all City of Brookhaven pools will open on Saturday, May 23. ☀️

There is nothing quite like the energy of Lynwood Park Community Day! It’s a beautiful day to celebrate the deep roots, vibrant history, and the incredible neighbors who make this community so special.
From the music and food to catching up with old friends, today is all about the spirit of connection. So grateful for everyone who came out to make this year’s celebration one to remember!

A vision realized! 🌳✨
Today we celebrated the dedication of Woodley Plaza in the heart of District 2. This new greenspace is more than just a park—it’s a tribute to Dan Woodley’s long-term vision of transforming the Dresden Corridor into a “modern-day main street.” Years in the making from the days of Buddy’s and Library Coffee, to the county tag office, abandoned lots, and tennis shoes hanging from power lines to this: THE place to be on a beautiful day in our great city.
Woodley Plaza is already becoming a favorite community anchor, and it’s yet another reminder of why Brookhaven is such a special place to call home.
Did you stop by the lawn party today? Tag us in your photos! 👇 And shoutout to the dancers from - you made my day!

We had a fantastic gathering at the Ashford Forest greenspace to brainstorm ways to make this beautiful area even better. A huge thank you to neighbors, the North Dekalb Greenspace Alliance, and the city staff who joined us to put our heads together—collective expertise and collaboration are what make these projects successful.
We took a deep dive into several key priorities, ensuring our initial planning includes vital feedback on:
• Clearer trail signage.
• Strategic site improvements.
• Protecting sensitive ecological areas.
• Improving access points so everyone can enjoy the forest.
The best part? These improvements are officially on the horizon! Over the next 2-3 years, we’ll see these plans come to life thanks to a congressional appropriation from Congressman Hank Johnson’s office.
Stay tuned for more updates as we work together to protect and improve our local greenspaces.

Thanks to everyone who joined me last night for our District 2 community meeting! I appreciated having Dekalb and staff on hand as well to field questions related to county issues including watershed projects, the upcoming State of Dekalb Animals on May 16, and the PDK airport expansion.
Quick notes from D2 in Brookhaven:
⚠️ Apple Valley repaving starts next month! In addition, a safer crosswalk installation will be placed at Fernwood and Apple Valley as part of that project.
💧The first phase of the Upper Poplar Creek stormwater project is underway. This multi-phase project will help address flooding in the Cartecay corridor.
🚧 Fencing along the last lot on Tobey Rd at Clairmont should go up very soon.
🎾 Tennis Courts are planned for a resurface.
🚶🏻♀️New crosswalk will go in on Caldwell this spring to help direct a safe crossing from the sidewalk switch on each side of the road.
