Maybe you’re still waiting on two lines. Maybe you got them and you’re terrified. Maybe your birth didn’t go the way you planned, or your arms are empty and nobody knows what to say. Whatever your heart is feeling this week, you shouldn’t have to carry it without somebody covering you.

So we wrote the prayers for you. Eight of them, for eight different mamas. Swipe until you find yours, save it for the hard days, or send it to the mama in your life who needs it most.

You were never meant to do this alone🫶🏾.

Drop your number in the comments and our team will be praying over you by name this week. 🙏🏾

Sis, the waiting is not wasted. Every month you held on, every prayer you whispered through tears, God heard it. Your yes is not forgotten. It’s on its way. 🌸

Scared and grateful at the same time? That’s allowed. You don’t have to have it all figured out today. You were chosen for this baby, and you are not walking this alone.

Hear us: you are allowed to ask questions. You are allowed to say “not yet.” Your voice belongs in that room. Pray for wisdom, and then use it. We’ll stand right beside you.

You can’t pour from a cup that’s been empty for weeks, friend. Let somebody bring the meal. Take the nap. Ask for help without apologizing. You’re doing better than you think.

Swollen feet, no sleep, and everybody asking “any day now?” We see you. Rest without guilt today. Your baby is coming earthside right on time, God’s time.

Halfway there, mama. Your body is doing holy work right now, even on the days you feel like you’re doing nothing but napping. Every kick is a reminder: God is still building something beautiful.

Mama, your baby mattered. Your love was real, and so is your grief. You don’t have to be okay right now. God is close to the brokenhearted. You are not alone 🫶🏾

Doulas aren’t anti-doctor. We’re anti-assumption.

Every one of those came from a real appointment with a real mama we serve. A good provider is a gift. But some things get said in so many exam rooms that they start sounding like facts. A due date becomes a deadline. A “just in case” becomes a script. Normal isn’t the same as necessary.

We don’t give medical advice. We make sure you know your options and feel steady enough to say “help me understand why” before you say yes or no. Sometimes yes is exactly right. We just want it to be your yes.

Birth is still God’s, and you were given a voice for a reason.

There is something too sacred about the bringing forth of life for me to enter that space and not pray.

So while she labors, I pray. Over her body. Over her baby. Over the room. Over every hand that touches her and every decision that is made.

Whether she hears the words leave my mouth or not, I am covering her birth in prayer.

Because where life is being brought forth, God should always be invited in. 🤍

And that’s the picture I wanted to close this week with.

Because Black breastfeeding doesn’t have to exist outside of Black culture — it belongs right in the middle of it. At the card table. On hair day. Getting ready for church. Right here on the porch.

This week was never just about breastfeeding. It was about seeing us — our motherhood, our joy, our way of caring for each other. And our babies, nourished by us, woven through all of it.

We all we got.

Here’s to making that as familiar as grandmama’s porch on a Sunday afternoon.

Black Breastfeeding Week isn’t just about the b**b. 🤱🏾

It’s about a tradition Black mothers have kept long before anybody gave it a name.

We’ve been nourishing since the church pew.

Steadying an ankle to fix a sock before Sunday service. Clipping barrettes tight enough to last through Vacation Bible School. Feeding a baby with one arm while somebody’s toddler falls out laughing on your lap.

The breast is just one more form of what we’ve always done — supply, sustain, show up.

This week, we’re honoring the thread. Not the moment. The legacy.

Cards hittin’ the table.
Somebody talking BIG trash.
Somebody yelling, “AIN’T NO WAY!”
And heaven help the person who reneges. 😭Because in our household, Spades has never been just a card game.

And right in the middle of all that joy… is motherhood. A baby at the breast. A toddler needing Mama for a minute. Because the game doesn’t stop when we become mothers—we just learn how to play our hand with a baby on our hip.

This is Black joy.
This is Black motherhood.
And breastfeeding belongs here too—not tucked away from life, but woven right into the middle of it.

Our babies belong at the table.
Motherhood belongs at the table.
Our joy belongs at the table.
And so do we. 🤎🖤

Mama’s house. Grandma’s. Auntie’s. Somebody fixing a plate, somebody pouring lemonade, somebody laughing too loud — and somebody’s got a baby on her hip, Sunday clothes still on, nursing right there in the middle of it all. Nobody covered up. Nobody left the room. Breastfeeding wasn’t hidden — it was just part of the day.

Somewhere along the way we got told to be quiet about something God designed us to do in the open. We’re done with that.

This is Black motherhood — the kitchen, the aunties, the village, the way we’ve always nourished each other while nourishing our babies. We all we got, and look what we built with it. 🖤

Happy Black Breastfeeding Week. This is what home looks like. ✨
