Gail Dean for School Board

A longtime advocate for public education, Gail Dean has served on the Fulton School Board since 2001, with a focus on financial and academic accountability, transparency in governance, and allocation of SPLOST taxpayer dollars for new schools and renovations in her district. She is running for reelection in the May 19, 2020 election for Fulton School Board District 3, which includes Sandy Springs, Hapeville, East Point and College Park.

Her experience in management and oversight of a complex district like Fulton County is critical to navigating the challenges ahead. Gail has the experience, asks the tough questions, and listens to her community. As we search for innovative ways to ensure that each child has a path to success, we must expand our options for students. Gail advocated for one of the most innovative and exciting High School concepts in the country, resulting in two new magnet STEM academies, one in North Fulton and one in South Fulton.

Since being elected she has taken on high level Board initiatives such as the Board Audit Committee, Fulton Employees' Pension Board, Fulton County School Employees' Charitable Fund, and Fulton Education Foundation.

Her knowledge of public finance and construction is an asset to the School Board. She has owned a real estate brokerage and two construction firms, and has consulted for financial institutions throughout the Southeast. Prior to being elected in 2000, Gail was a PTA president, Governance council chair and part of parent-led reform and system-level committees.
