This morning, our photo was snapped in front of Tri-County Collision on Dahlonega Hwy (Hwy 9) near downtown Cu***ng.

On Memorial Day, this individual was driving on GA400 going 104mph. That's not the worst part of it, they were in a 55mph CONSTRUCTION ZONE! Thankfully no one was working in the area due to the holiday. This type of speed in a construction zone is extremely dangerous and can be deadly to those road crews. Needless to say, this person was taken to the Freeman Hotel for Reckless Driving.

For this we give a shout out to Chief Joe! On his way home yesterday he stopped and helped a turtle get to safety!

While helping a turtle isn't a proven ticket to instant riches, in folklore, saving a turtle in the road is often viewed as an act of good karma that brings positive blessings.

Please keep in mind, with all this rain, the turtles are on the move. If you see one in the road, if it is safe to do so, help a little feller out. But please don't call Animal Control, they only respond for domestic animals and not wildlife.

Congratulations Detective Joseph DellaPiana for being named Law Enforcement Officer of the Year by the Forsyth-Cu***ng Optimist Club.

Yesterday, the University of North Georgia Advanced Public Safety Academy at Forsyth graduated Class 008.

During the 20-week academy, these deputies and officers were pushed, but they never quit. They leave this academy with additional training that would take them years to acquire while working. They are better prepared to serve and make a positive difference in their communities, through agencies across North Georgia.

Join us in celebrating two very important milestone anniversaries. Executive Assistant Donna Jacobs has reached 25 years of service and Lt. Scotty Spriggs has reached 30 years of service. We appreciate your dedication and commitment to the citizens of Forsyth County.

Earlier this week we welcomed several new members to the . Welcome Animal Control Officer Tristan Britt, Deputy Sheriff II Emma Parsons, Criminal Investigations Division Analyst Katherine Whitfield, and Inmate Services Specialist Serena Ervin. We are glad you are here.

Today we remember and honor the many brave men and women who have given their lives serving our country throughout the history of our great nation. Words are never enough, but we are forever grateful for the ultimate sacrifice they paid for our protection and freedoms.
