I am extremely honored to have been appointed and sworn into the Judicial Nominating Commission (JNC) by Governor Kemp. I am excited to serve in this important process of recommending judicial candidates to fill state, superior and appellate courts in Georgia.

I am honored to have recently taken the oath of office to serve Fayette County as your Solicitor General. So much has changed since I was first sworn in back in December of 2004!

It was a pleasure seeing everyone at the annual State Court Open House this morning. I enjoyed catching up with Judge Jason Thompson, Sheriff Barry Babb and everyone else in attendance.

Another new law that went into effect six months ago that changed how drivers approach a stopped school bus.
The language in the new law states that “the driver of a vehicle upon a highway with separate roadways or a divided highway, including, but not limited to, a highway divided by a turn lane, need not stop upon meeting or passing a school bus which is on a different roadway or on another half of a divided highway.”
The old law, drivers traveling in the opposite direction of a stopped school bus on a four-lane road with a turn lane in the middle had to stop. Now, those drivers aren't required to stop.
Nothing has changed on two-lane roads, traffic in each direction still has to stop.

I have been seeing a lot of these tickets. In Georgia, drivers cannot hold any type of mobile device in their hand or on any part of their body while they operate a motor vehicle on public roads. The act of talking on the phone while driving is permitted if drivers use a hands-free component to make or receive calls.
