🎉💙 Nicholas House Named an Impact100 Atlanta Finalist! 🏠

We're thrilled to share that Nicholas House has been selected as one of just 10 finalists for Impact100 Atlanta's 2026 transformational grants! 🙌

Chosen from more than 200 applicants across Metro Atlanta, Nicholas House is one of only two finalists in the Family focus area, putting us in the running for a $90,000 grant to support our proposed Journey Home project!

If selected, this funding would help us expand our efforts to support families experiencing homelessness as they work toward stable housing, greater independence, and long-term stability. 💙

We recently had the opportunity to attend Impact100 Atlanta's Meet the Finalists event and connect with other incredible organizations working to make a difference throughout our community.

We're so grateful to Impact100 Atlanta and its members for their commitment to collective giving and investing in organizations creating meaningful change across Metro Atlanta. Congratulations to all 10 finalists! 👏

✨ Next up: November's final presentations and grant awards! We're excited to share more about our vision for Journey Home and the impact this funding could have on the families we serve.

🎓💙 Celebrating Our First Workforce Development Readiness Graduates! 🎉

We're excited to celebrate EIGHT Nicholas House participants in DeKalb County who recently graduated from our first Workforce Development Readiness Program in partnership with Dress for Success Georgia! 👏

Led by our wonderful Case Manager Ebonie, this program helped participants develop valuable skills, build confidence, and take meaningful steps toward their employment and career goals. As part of the experience, participants also had the opportunity to shop at Dress for Success for professional attire to help them look and feel their best as they prepare for new opportunities! 👔✨

🎉 Please join us in congratulating Zaneta, Azariah, Shanesha, Ramonia, Marquita, Sade, Vanessa, and Sophia! We're so proud of each of you and excited to see where your journeys take you next!

For more than eight years, Vickie Tellis has been a dedicated champion of Nicholas House families through her leadership as Chairperson and Nicholas House liaison for The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral’s St. Photini Outreach Ministry! 🏠💙

As Vickie steps away from her role as Chairperson, we want to recognize and celebrate the incredible dedication, kindness, and generosity she has shown our families over the years. Her commitment to strengthening this partnership and ensuring our families feel supported and cared for has made a lasting difference.

Thank you, Vickie, for more than eight wonderful years of leadership, advocacy, and service! Your impact on the Nicholas House community will not be forgotten. 💙

We're also excited to extend a warm welcome to Cathy Seals, the ministry's new Chairperson! After recently visiting Nicholas House, Cathy will help continue this meaningful partnership, including St. Photini's monthly dinner service for our families. 🍽️

The friendly faces at our front desk help make Nicholas House a welcoming place for families, visitors, and community members alike! ✨

As Zarria, one of our wonderful front desk volunteers, heads back to Kennesaw State University for her senior year, we want to wish her an incredible school year and thank her for the time and dedication she's given to Nicholas House! 🎓💙

We're also giving a big shoutout to Daniel, Ashley, Andrea, and Neish, who help keep things running smoothly by answering phones, welcoming visitors, assisting with donations and questions, and supporting our staff and families.

Your kindness, reliability, and willingness to lend a hand make a difference every day! We're so grateful to have each of you as part of the Nicholas House community. 💙

A special thank you to UUCA for their continued dedication to providing dinner for Nicholas House families!

Recently, Jim Kelley and several UUCA dinner volunteers went beyond serving a meal by sitting down with our shelter residents to share food, stories, and conversation.

These moments of connection make a meaningful difference. When volunteers take the time to sit down, listen, and get to know the families they serve, they help create a sense of community and belonging that extends far beyond the dinner table. 💙

🧹 A Day of Service with McKenney’s! 💙

The McKenney’s team rolled up their sleeves and got to work during a recent Day of Service at Nicholas House! 🏠✨

From cleaning our children’s room to sweeping, mopping, and dusting all three floors, these dedicated volunteers went above and beyond! They also tackled our dining room and kitchen, helping make sure every corner of Nicholas House felt fresh and welcoming.

By the end of the day, the whole house was looking—and smelling—fresh and clean! 🧽✨

A huge THANK YOU to McKenney’s for giving your time and energy to help create a clean, comfortable, and welcoming space for the families we serve. Your hard work and generosity make a meaningful difference! 💙

Today, we recognize both World Homeless Day and World Mental Health Day—two observances that remind us that stability is about more than having a roof overhead.

Experiencing homelessness can bring tremendous stress and uncertainty for families. That's why at Nicholas House, our work goes beyond helping families find housing. Through individualized case management, community partnerships, and connections to supportive resources, we work alongside families as they address the barriers standing between them and lasting stability.

A safe, stable home can provide the foundation families need to focus on their goals, their well-being, and their future. 🏠💙

At Nicholas House, we know that there are no shortcuts to overcoming the barriers that lead to homelessness. Every family's path toward stability looks different, and lasting change takes time, resources, and ongoing support.

That's why our work doesn't stop when a family finds housing. Through individualized case management, employment and financial education, and supportive resources, we walk alongside families as they work toward long-term stability and self-sufficiency. 🏠💙
