This morning, Mayor Jim Gilvin met with students and staff from Mill Springs Academy to learn more about this special scarecrow, “Mustang NEIGHborhood.”

Ms. Janet’s art classes worked together to create the sculpture, reusing the frame from last year’s horse and giving it new life. The horseshoes tell the story of Mill Springs Academy, with weathered horseshoes representing the school’s history, silver ones marking its 45th anniversary and colorful ones celebrating its incredible students. The sculpture even features real horseshoes donated through the owner of Friendship Ranch Retreat.

Thank you to Mill Springs Academy for contributing such a thoughtful and creative entry to this year’s Scarecrow Harvest! It’s a wonderful example of what can happen when students work together to turn meaningful materials into something special.
