More than 75 volunteers from Sewa International USA - Houston Chapter came together for a Day of Service at the Houston Food Bank, helping sort and prepare food for families across Greater Houston.

Together, volunteers:
βœ… Sorted 22 pallets of food
βœ… Processed 20,000+ pounds of food
βœ… Helped provide approximately 16,000 meals

From families serving together to first-time volunteers stepping up, the day reflected the power of community, compassion, and collective action.

πŸŒ±πŸ’› SEWA Day of Service – Garden Clean-Up Success! πŸ’›πŸŒ±

Volunteers from Sewa International USA - Greater Los Angeles Chapter came together at the Las Flores Community Garden for a day of service that delivered a lasting community impact.

In just three hours, more than 15 youth volunteers and 10+ adult volunteers spread nearly 20 cubic yards of mulch across approximately 1,800 sq. ft. of garden space, helping create a healthier, safer, and more beautiful environment for community members.

This initiative showcased the power of youth leadership, family engagement, and collective action. By improving a shared community space, the project contributed to a greener, more welcoming garden that residents can enjoy for months to come.

Integrative Diabetes Care Workshop

On May 28, Sewa International USA - Bay Area Chapter hosted an educational session on integrative diabetes care, exploring how nutrition, daily routines, movement, stress management, and mind-body practices can contribute to long-term health and well-being.

The session offered participants practical insights that combined evidence-based lifestyle approaches with traditional wellness systems, helping them better understand how sustainable habits can support metabolic balance, resilience, and overall wellness.

Senior Sewa Sugar Land Group organized a meaningful field visit to a Sewa Service Project in Rosharon, TX on May 16, 2026, giving seniors a firsthand experience of Sewa’s impactful community outreach and disaster recovery efforts. 🌱🀝

Participants learned about long-term hurricane recovery work, explored local greenhouses, and engaged in discussions on supporting resilient communities. A special highlight was the free medical lab screenings provided for both the local community and Senior Sewa participants.

The visit concluded with a peaceful experience at a beautiful Buddhist temple, making it a memorable day of service, learning, healthcare, and reflection. πŸ’™

On May 17, Bay Area organized a Narcan Kit Building event focused on overdose prevention and community health awareness.

Together, volunteers assembled more than 1,500 naloxone rescue kits to help expand access to potentially life-saving resources for individuals and families affected by the opioid crisis.

Initiatives like these demonstrate the power of community-driven action in building safer, healthier, and more resilient communities.
