Situated alongside the Firefly Trail, Firefly Farmstop in Winterville is the newest Wholesome Wave Georgia Fresh for Less partner site. Open Monday-Saturday, 8:30am-7:30pm, you can shop for Georgia-grown produce, snacks, coffee, and more.

When you pay using an EBT card, all fresh, locally grown produce is automatically 50% off (up to a $50 discount). All profits from Firefly Farmstop fund the programs and mission of Marigold Collective: to build a stronger local food system by supporting local growers and producers, expanding access to fresh, affordable food, providing nutrition education, and creating pathways to share food abundance within the Winterville and East Athens communities.

With inflation and general cost of living increases, people like Jada, a Certified Nursing Assistant in Atlanta, struggle to get by. To provide for her two children as a single mother, Jada relies on the SNAP program.

“It fills the gap," Jada told Wholesome Wave Georgia. "I need it and more."

Some weeks are tighter than others. A reduced schedule, an unexpected bill, kid needs, or a higher gas week can compress stability quickly.

"There’s no cushion at all,” she said. “It’s one income, one Mom, 1,000 bills.”

🩺🥕Abigail and Kat, Wholesome Wave Georgia's Programs Team, got to sit in on a Wholesome Wave Georgia Food for Health class with our partners at Albany Area Primary Health Care, Inc. & Flint River Fresh.

They loved watching Farmer Fredo's plant demo, enjoyed a tasty plant-based cooking demo from Chef Michael Daniel of 229 Vegan, and learned alongside the cohort from the Resident Students at the Health Center.

Big thanks to the Albany Food for Health team for making us feel right at home. We are glad to see so much energy coming out of Southwest Georgia. 🎉

📢 Greg Best has agreed to be Beverage Host for Southern Chefs Potluck 2026! 🎉🎉

If you have joined us at past Southern Chefs Potlucks, you have encountered Greg Best. He has served as our live auctioneer for several years, has had a hand in crafting Live Auction lots, and has been aiding the Beverage Hosts behind the scenes, helping bring together mixologists, acquiring donations, and providing advice and expertise. When he isn't helping Wholesome Wave Georgia's team with event preparations, Greg runs Ticonderoga Club, has a hand in Southern National Atlanta, and until their recent closure, he helped run How Crispy!

We can't wait to see Greg work his magic at Southern Chefs Potluck 2026. Cheers.🥂

📢Ahem! Your attention please...! Chef Christopher Grossman of THE CHASTAIN ATL has been named Chef Host for Southern Chefs Potluck 2026!!! 🎉🎉

Chef Christopher Grossman has been a long-time supporter of Wholesome Wave Georgia and Southern Chefs Potluck. Awarded a Michelin Green Star for sustainable practices at his restaurant THE CHASTAIN, Chef Grossman's Elegantly Understated Cuisine focuses on techniques that highlight and lift up the unique flavors of the ingredients used.

Chef Thomas Keller, a mentor to Chef Grossman, said, "All other things being equal, the chef with the best ingredients wins." and Chef Grossman takes this philosophy very seriously: "If you’ve never walked a field looking for old fence rows to pick asparagus for dinner, have you really ever tasted the true flavor of asparagus? I focus on sourcing the absolute best while being mindful and ethical. We supplement what we grow with produce from local farmers who deliver once or twice a week. We purchase just enough. Farmers put in a lot of work every day. When they’re grown well, and ethically, and gathered at their peak ripeness and freshness, I feel it is a disservice to impose our will on ingredients. I want people to experience the magic of freshly picked fruits or vegetables that have never seen a refrigerator."

The Wholesome Wave Georgia team cannot wait to see who Chef Grossman gathers together to celebrate the bounty of the season.
