The Board of Commissioners Office (BOC) is responsible for establishing county policies, setting the county budget, and authorizing expenditures. The board also approves or denies zonings throughout the county. The BOC is comprised of the Chairman and 5 other commissioners. 📣 The Cook Road Convenience Center, located at 10 Cook Road, is now open to Newton County residents with a Convenience Center Hang Tag! Center Hours are Tuesday through Friday, noon - 7pm, and Saturday, 9am to 7pm.

Cook Road is one of seven centers open through the Newton County Solid Waste Authority's Residential User Access program for household trash and recycling.

Happy ! To celebrate, Newton County Senior Services put on its annual Chairman and Mayor's Senior Walk Friday. Newton County's fantastic seniors walk the mile from the Historic Courthouse to the Josephine B. Brown Senior Center at Turner Lake to celebrate their active lifestyle, recognize the contributions of the oldest and wisest members of our community and draw attention to their contributions- past, present and future.

Thank you to everyone who came out to participate and support our seniors, including Vice Chairman and District 5 Commissioner LeAnne Long, Mayor Pro-tem and City Councilman Jared Rutberg, District 1 Commissioner Stan Edwards and District 2 Commissioner Demond Mason, who read a proclamation and gave words of encouragement to our seniors.

Tax Commissioner Brent Bennett announces new hours for the Westside Office starting Monday, May 4.
The office at 3612 Salem Road, Covington in the Kroger shopping plaza will now be open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and will no longer be closed an hour for lunch.

Thank you to everyone who participated in Keep Newton Beautiful's FREE Paper Shred Event last week! Their dedicated team and volunteers served 170 cars, and the shred truck was full an hour before the event was even scheduled to end.
