🚧 October SPLOST Transportation Projects Update 🚧

Work continues on several SPLOST-funded transportation projects throughout Cherokee County. Here’s a look at what’s happening this month:

Paving Projects
Paving is underway or planned in the following neighborhoods:
• Towne Lake Hills West
• Spicer’s Grove
• Copper Ridge
• River Plantation
• The Estates at Wiley Bridge
• Pioneer Crossing
• Mirramont Lake Drive
• Waterford
• Park View
• Driftwood Forest
• Walnut Creek
• Quail Pointe
• Arthur Drive

Trickum Road – Belles Lane to Sycamore Lane
Crews are continuing to:
• Widen the roadway
• Work on homeowner driveways
• Install storm drainage
• Grade slopes

South Jett Road – Cobb County Line to Hames Road
Current work includes:
• Grading slopes
• Installing curb and gutter
• Preparing the roadway for paving

SR 92 at Trickum Road – Sycamore Lane to Gunnin Road
• Utility relocations on power poles are underway
• Asphalt paving recently took place
• Crews will shift to the south end of the project to prepare for roadway widening

Big shoutout to our Cherokee County Fleet Services team!

Fleet Services recently earned the Southeast Government Fleet Management Association Award for Excellence in Fleet Management!

The award recognizes the team’s work to improve efficiency, modernize operations, strengthen fiscal responsibility and enhance fleet management across Cherokee County.

Even more impressive, this recognition covers a six-state region encompassing 562 counties. Congratulations to the entire Fleet Services team on this well-deserved honor!

Twenty-eight conversations over two years and nearly $5,000 donated to local nonprofits in the community. Love Where You Live began as an initiative to highlight the residents who make Cherokee County what it is, and it has become so much more. The community-driven features showcase different perspectives and various backgrounds with one common denominator of loving where you live.

This video takes a look back at the last two years reminding us why community is one of the most important foundations of a successful county.

Next month, the Love Where You Live Community Giveback will donate the proceeds of the fiscal year 2026 merchandise sales. All residents featured are nominated by the community, and the community has nominated many nonprofits for this year’s Community Giveback.

Cherokee County residents are invited to learn more about the proposed Ball Ground Bypass and provide feedback during a Public Information Open House on Oct. 13 from 4-7 p.m. at the Northside Hospital Conference Center at The Bluffs, 1130 Bluffs Pkwy., Canton.

Attendees can view project materials, provide comments and speak with GDOT and Cherokee County officials.

Cherokee Recreation and Parks invites the community to celebrate the fall season at the Great Pumpkin Fest on Saturday, Oct. 10, at Cherokee Veterans Park located at 7345 Cu***ng Hwy in Canton.

Cherokee Recreation and Parks is wrapping up its 2026 Tuesdays in the Park series with Skate Night on Tuesday, Sept. 29, at the WREC Skate Rink in Woodstock.

Bring the family and enjoy an evening of skating, music, vendors and food trucks as the community celebrates the final Tuesdays in the Park event of the year. The WREC Skate Rink is located at 7545 Main St., Woodstock.

⚠️ Traffic Alert: Bells Ferry Bridge Replacement Project ⚠️

On Friday, September 4, crews will be setting beams off the old bridge starting at 10 a.m. During this operation, traffic will be reduced to one lane, and periodic full traffic stops will occur while the beams are lifted from the trailer. Work is expected to be completed by 2 p.m.
