Thanks to Maine Education Association for sharing these classroom resources to teach and honor Indigenous Peoples Day.

The State of Maine celebrates Indigenous Peoples’ Day each October. Maine is the ancestorial home of the Penobscot Nation, Passamaquoddy Tribe, Mi’kmaq Nation, Abenaki, and Houlton Band of Maliseet Indians—collectively known as the Wabanaki, “People of the Dawnland.” The Wabankai nations have endured as sovereign and self-determining people with distinct languages, cultures, governments, and economic structures.

We encourage educators to integrate Wabanaki studies into the existing curricula. Below we have compiled a list of teaching resources for you to help you honor the Wabanaki people that have called Maine home for thousands of years.

Whether you're participating in the Damariscotta Pumpkinfest & Regatta festivities or just driving through, be sure to plan ahead for temporary parking and traffic changes this holiday weekend! 🎃 🎃 🎃

To find alternative parking options, visit the Pumpkinfest website: https://www.mainepumpkinfest.com/parking-options

For many years now, there are some impacts to our routine parking spots during the Pumpkinfest weekend. This is just a friendly reminder of what will be impacted to help you plan accordingly.
Friday 10/9 thru Monday 10/12 - there will be barricades along Main St to ensure pedestrian safety.
Saturday 10/10 and Sunday 10/11 - a section of the back parking lot will be closed and reserved for emergency vehicles, key Pumpkinfest vehicles (think Regatta), and some of the food trucks.
Elm St will be for local traffic only during the weekend, please only access if you live or work on that street.
Theater St will be closed to traffic during this time as well.
Church St from the Biscay Rd light to Chapman St will be two-way traffic, no parking
Church St from Chapman St to Main St will be one-way headed towards the Baptist Church.

These changes are done to minimize safety risks and to help ensure smooth operations for residents, visitors, and emergency personnel.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we all look forward to a fun and safe weekend.

I'm happy to celebrate the Community Action Grants awarded in District 13! It's important our communities can handle severe weather, and these grants are investments that will strengthen the infrastructure in our area. By making these investments now, we will be able to better protect our communities and avoid paying higher costs later.

It was a beautiful day to welcome this happy group of kayakers to Round Pond as part of the Appalachian Mountain Club 150th Anniversary Relay! These volunteers are part of the 2,000+ mile journey that has been hiking, biking, and paddling the AMC pennant from Virginia to Maine.🌲🌊🛶🥾🚲

Founded in 1876, the AMC connects people with nature through a combination of outdoor recreation, environmental advocacy, and land stewardship across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions. Check out their work and get outside with them today: www.outdoors.org

Have questions about your electricity bill? Representative Holly Stover and I invited Central Maine Power's Customer Service Team to bring their Community Connection outreach event to the Boothbay YMCA on Monday, August 24th, 8am - 12p. See you there!

Have questions about your electricity bill?

At the invitation of Senator Cameron Reny and Representative Holly Stover, CMP's Customer Service team is bringing our Community Connection outreach event to the Boothbay YMCA from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. (261 Townsend Ave, Boothbay Harbor)

This is a great opportunity to meet one-on-one with our Customer Advocate, get answers to your questions about your bill, energy use, or rates, and learn about programs and options that may help make your bill more affordable.

We're excited to connect with you face-to-face, provide the support you need, and help you better understand your energy service. Stop by and say hello. We look forward to seeing you there!

I am proud to join Representative Holly Stover, Representative Wayne Farrin, and nearly 70 state lawmakers from across Maine to urge MaineHealth to preserve labor and delivery services at the only birthing center in our district, MaineHealth Lincoln Hospital.
