She’s a BEAUT!
Meet “The Basket Case”
a one-of-one Ford Model T made entirely of wicker!
Bought during the Great Depression in 1934 for just $8 by owner Jake Kluch’s family, it has been passed down through generations for 92 years.
The car was custom wrapped in hand woven wicker when it was brand new in 1924. The work was done in Menominee, Michigan -home to a prominent wicker furniture and baby-buggy manufacturing company.
While it’s believed to have been built by factory workers as a promotional showpiece, the original buyer remains a mystery. While the exact original buyer is unknown, the initials “SCK” are permanently woven into the passenger door.
Rumors once claimed there were six made, but official research confirms this is the only wicker Ford Model T in existence. Ford even named it one of the “100 Icons That Moved the World.”
Today, Jake and Janelle Kluch still drive this 20-horsepower, fully functional masterpiece around the streets of Arizona.
What a vision of creativity!
