National Disease Intervention Specialist Day

Today, October 2, we recognize National Disease Intervention Specialist Day and the dedicated professionals working behind the scenes to protect the health of our communities.

Disease Intervention Specialists (DIS) are public health “disease detectives” who help prevent and control the spread of disease through case investigation, contact tracing, education, connecting people to care, and compassionate support.

We’re proud to celebrate our East Central Health District DIS team and thank them for the important work they do every day to keep our communities healthy and safe.

📢 Lincoln County Health Department Schedule Notice

Beginning August 27 through September 16, 2026, the Lincoln County Health Department will operate on an altered clinical and walk-in schedule due to staffing concerns. Weekly schedules will be posted with the hours staff are available.

Current Schedule:

📅 Thursday, August 27: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
📅 Friday, August 28: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
📅 Monday, August 31: 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM
The office will be closed for the remainder of the day for staff training in Richmond County.

📅 Tuesday, September 1 – Thursday, September 3: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
📅 Friday, September 4: 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM
