REP. PATTERSON’S STATEMENT: US HIGHWAY 380 IS FUNCTIONALLY COMPLETE

01/25/2026

Most of the precipitation has left state. Still some snow in West TX/Permian and some freezing rain in SE TX.

Roads will likely be worse tomorrow. Right now there is sleet on top of ice and some will melt this afternoon leading to more/slicker ice when it refreezes.

Central TX is lucky most of precipitation fell as sleet, which didn’t hang on trees/power lines like it would have had it been a few degrees warmer and been freezing rain.

Plenty of generation continues to be available on the grid. There have been some ice/freezing related issues at power plants but nothing out of ordinary. Reserves never got tight overnight. ERCOT expects peak usage tomorrow between 8-9 AM but still projecting ample generation available throughout the storm.

More people without power this morning, mostly in East TX due to localized distribution outages (ice on lines/trees). 123K outages statewide—down a bit from earlier this AM. Crews out working now on restoration efforts.

Gas supply continues to be strong, some very localized outages, nothing out of ordinary.

TXDOT out working hard on clearing/de-icing roads.
