To reduce the cost of healthcare, Comptroller Don Huffines signed an executive order to eliminate the tax on access to medical records, patient portals, and other healthcare technology.

The proposed rule from Comptroller Huffines would end the tax on patient records by clarifying that access to those records are neither taxable information services nor taxable data processing services.

Comptroller Huffines’ order is the latest step in the Taxpayer First Project, his effort to make Texas’ tax system more fair, transparent, consistent and respectful of taxpayers.
